Anybody got a solution to this recorder problem

I have a Sony HXD870 DVD Recorder that I bought around year 2008 but only used for a couple of years and then put into storage.

I have now found a use for it but have remembered that if the batteries are out of the remote for long period the remote needs to be retuned to the recorder.
You retune by pressing certain buttons on the remote, I use to have a record of these buttons but of course after getting on for 10 years since last used this idiot has lost the record.
The recorder itself does hve a few buttons built in but not enough to use it properly.
I have Google around for an answer to "retuning the remote to the recorder" and got "press select button plus either buttons 1 2 or 3" (could someone confirm these codes) but using any of these combinations does not get the remote to work the recorder
If I could buy a new remote for it I would still need the retune code to make it work the recorder.
It is an old recorder so it is a big ask, does anyone have a solution to my problem.
Thanks

If it is not showing then it might be set to DVD 3.
All the information to set it up is there, unless the remote is actually faulty.0 -
I have one of these, and don't recall ever having to tune the remote to the device. From time to time there's a need to re-tune it as it's not so good at doing that automatically, but other than that it's fine. Played a DVD on it last week, for the first time in months, if not years.
Interestingly it does say that you can check what command mode the device is set to on the front panel, but doesn't tell you how to do it without the remote. There is a suggestion elsewhere that it will show the information each time you press a button on the remote, even if it's not set the same on both the remote and the recorder. Or maybe that should read "only" if it's not set the same.0 -

There are only three command codes, and the implication is that, out of the box (and possibly after power-down) the recorder default is DVD3 (last para, p25).
Assuming the remote is working, you follow the procedure in the para Command Mode, subsection 3 on p149, surely? "Set the command mode for the remote so it matches the recorder". There's only three options to try, and you start with the implied default of command code 3. You don't need to change the recorder, just cycle through the only three options on the remote until it matches the recorder. Then you can change the command mode on the recorder if you want or need to.
Also, the Hint para below that implies that if you press any button on the remote, and the recorder is not set to the same command code, it will show the command code it is actually set to on the front panel. i.e. press a command code 3 remote, and if recorder is set to 1, it will show "1" on the panel to guide you.
I have a number of Panasonic DVD recorders and such, and in a similar fashion, if I use Remote 1 with Recorder 2, the recorder flashes "DVD 2" on the panel to let me know I have the wrong remote - it is recorder 2, and I'm using Remote 10 -
OP has posted on at least three forums and seems to be ignoring the advise given.0
