ECO3 free boiler scheme?

Has anyone recently had a boiler through this scheme?
I’ve recently had my boiler repaired, so I’m no longer eligible, but will be when it breaks again. There is a 8-10 wait for installation, can’t manage with no central heating in winter for that long!I have health problems which are made worse by the cold.
I’m on PIP and my husband works, so I didn’t think I would be eligible, but I’ve been told it’s not means tested.
So I just wanted to know people’s experience of the scheme, I would also be going from a Heat only boiler to a combi, so extra pipe work would be needed, which I would have to pay for.

I had one fitted bySimply Eco Ltd Birmingham 3 weeks ago and had to pay £385 CASH. The control was using a Salus control and the first night the boiler did not switch off. Simply Eco said they are not responsible for this part only the pipework and yet they fitted the boiler and controls. Salus say it is faulty and I must pay to send it back to them even though it was not fit for purpose on day one and Simply Eco said they will not come out to programme it if I receive a new control. I am at my wits end having a husband with serious dementia and having to be watched 24/7. As it is a government scheme where can I complain? The engineer who fitted it today said I was to blame and rudely put the phone down on me. Simply Eco keep saying they will investigate and phone me back and never do.2

Sorry to hear you have had. Bad experience, but I will be making sure I know what’s covered, and if it’s not everything, I’ll look else where0

The person you paid the money to is responsible so email or write to them reminding them of this.
How did you pay? If by card then complain to your card provider as the system is not fit for purpose.0 -
I have just cancelled my installation with Simply Eco Ltd Birmingham as they refused to take any card payments and said I should get the money (£1.5k) out of the cash machine over a few days! When I said what about warranty and card protection they said my warranty was with the manufactures not them?
They also said my grant had come through so does that mean they are keeping my grant so I won't be able to get it from another firm?0 -
The fact that they only take cash screams dodgy as if anything goes wrong you have no comeback with your card company do they give you any installation or test paperwork?
Unless they let you pay by card I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole
