Yes going bankrupt left your wife liable for any joint debt, this now has to be paid by her and has nothing to do with your bankrutsy. It wasn't written off and needs paying. I'd offer £1 as month as all her income is benefits.

Thank You...I am going to offer £5 a month

Tonyp you must not offer anything, it will break the terms of your IPA and BR. If you mean that your wife will offer £5 month that fine. It may be symantics, but that is how the law operates
    [strike]Debt @ LBM 04/07 £14,804[/strike]01/08 [strike]£10,472[/strike]now debt free:j

    Target: Stay debt free
  • Simple solution you write the letter and get your wife to sign it. Send the payments via standing order from myour wifes account.
    Barclaycard 3800

The only money my wife gets is the money for my 5 year old son which is included in the IPA as one of my monthly incomes...The Official Receiver is happy to include my wifes money but when it comes to helping my wife they DON'T want to know!!!!!

So what am I suposed to do..The only way my wife can get any money is through me...
  • She could take up mystery shopping:confused:

Thats fine, provided the offer comes from your wife. The NO NO is your DIRECTLY offering payment, like I say splitting hairs, not my way either, but the way the law works:confused:

  • Sign up with TNS, Grassroots, Gapbuster......there are a few more companies I think as well...although as I live in Poole also, I bagsy first dabs on the Asda, Tesco and Pizza Hut ones each time ;)

There are always a fair few mystery shopping jobs available in Poole. I only do food related ones now but there are regularly ones with banks, electrical stores, pubs (buy a drink after 8 mostly)and mobile phone shops as well as bits and pieces of other jobs.

You could eat at McDonalds until you were sick if that really took your fancy......... ;)

Can i ask when the last payment was made towards the overdraft? Could the debt be statute barred (6 years since last acknowledgment of debt)?

Don't ask the IPA any more. Contact Citizens advice or one of the other free debt charities already mentioned who will be able to advise.
After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

    Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
    Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0

    Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/2011
