Dim LED floor lamp

My daughter has just bought a Next LED floor lamp.

https://www.next.co.uk/g598109s4?itm=177081#177081

I don’t think it’s the one above as I think she said it was £70, but it looks very similar anyway.

Thing is, it’s so bright you have to hide it in the corner with things shielding you from it! You can’t really look directly at it.

Is there a way of dimming an LED floor lamp?

Obviously it plugs into a mains electric socket like any other plug in appliance.

"All of our ceiling and wall lights are dimmable when used with our range of dimmable bulbs and dimmer switches" - taken from your link. I am pretty sure the same applies to floor lamps, but it's worth asking Next to make sure.

Every floor lamp I've bought in the past 30 years has been dimmable, but the description in the link refers to all wall and ceiling lights being dimmable with no mention of the feature for that floor lamp. She'll need to check with Next.
  • Looking at the pictures in the link you sent I'm wondering if there is already a dimmer built in.

The box that is on the cable looks like it's a slider rather than a simple switch. I'm wondering if this is an inline dimmer for the light. It's just a guess but might be worth a try maybe.

Sorry to be clear, the one I’ve linked to is similar, but not her one. I used it as an example.
Hers doesn’t have a dimmer facility & plugs straight in at the mains.

Wall & ceiling lights have wall switches that can be changed for dimmer switches.
    Floor lamps have plugs.

Just been looking on the Next site and only a couple of their floor standing lamps actually state they are dimmable. Dimmable plug adaptors are available, but may or may not work with the specific light.

Seems plug in dimmers are not to be used with LED or low energy lights :-(
