Switched bank account and then took out direct debit on old account- will it switch over?

Hi I've recently switched to HSBC to take advantage of the £175 offer. There is a requirement for 2 direct debits to be switched too. I'd totally forgot I'd cancelled the direct debits in my account. The switch occurred on 3rd January, and my balance has now transferred across. However, I've tested the old bank card in an ATM and the old bank account appears to still be open (I think it remains open for around 7 days post-switch).
So to try to salvage the situation, I've taken out two direct debits on 6th January for the old bank account. Will these two direct debits now switch across to my new account?
Don’t know if it will work but sometimes companies keep a cancelled DD on file and if you request it, it can be reactivated?
Failing that, if you don’t get the bonus, switch another account with two DD to a new HSBC current account unless their t&c preclude it. They were a bit of a nightmare to apply with I remember so your call as to whether they are worth the bother.
And don’t blame HSBC for your mistakes unless their delaying your switch by one month caused you to cancel the DDs you needed on the switch account? Which by your #7 they may have done!?0 -
That seems a very sensible suggestion. A quick glance at the switch offer T&Cs suggests that the switch of an eligible account must "start within 30 days of the date of your eligible current account being opened" so there should be just enough time now to open a new account, set up some DDs on it, and then request the switch. Hi,
You don't mention if you had any standing orders on your old account as these also count as part of the switch and incentive. HSBC T&C's
I also read that you are thinking of opening an new account and starting again, as suggested by Yorkshire Pud, you will need to be careful as you may already be classed as an account holder which will exclude you from the incentive "
Eligibility criteria for Offer Payment
You will qualify for the switcher offer described in these Offer Terms if you:
(a) apply for an eligible current account on or after
30 December 2019 and before the offer is withdrawn (see term 9 below), and subsequently open that account;
(b) are not an HSBC current account holder on the date of application and have not been on or after 1 January 2017.
Maybe worth a call to see if you can get a nice person who can see you met most of the conditions but missed a DD, you have nothing to lose, but possibly £175 to gain

What a complete TOOL....
....MS Money must be if its mere existence is enough to inspire such undying devotion that it apparently justifies yet another off-topic declaration of infatuation on an unrelated thread!0
