Halifax and unauthorised payment

This advice is also incorrect and chargebacks are irrelevant. As the payment was unauthorised (see linked FCA post) it is the bank that is liable to refund it. Any subsequent recovery of funds from the merchant is the bank's problem.
They can be represented but in cases like this the bank (halifax) just go back stating customer cancelled (date in Dec) with us and as such your representment is invalid.Life in the slow lane0 -

It’s an individual choice and very well known that people do this. My car was on finance when I bought it and I never missed a payment. I needed a newer car as I was dong longer journeys but did not have the £8k in the bank to buy it. Some people try and save every month but are unfortunate that something happens and they use that money or they live comfortably by covering all their expenditures but doing have large amounts in savings. It depends on your outlook on life. I would rather not worry about money and don’t worry about money. It doesn’t keep me up at night. If things were to go down the toilet I have family I could go and stay with family whilst I got back up on my feet for example. Some people don’t have that and spend their lives worrying about what’s in the bank, I am not that person.
Trust me, it’s always someone wanting to borrow off me, not the other way round. I am always well within my budget but everybody has had the time when something has genuinely gone wrong such as losing their job to redundancy or being very ill in hospital or a loved one is unwell or dies. You just cannot plan for everything.
But you didn't need to spend £8k on a car you can get a very decent car for £2k that could reliably do any journey you needed it too. If it's part of a good budget then there is nothing wrong with spending more on a car. But building an emergency fund should be a top priority before spending more to get a nicer car.
I don't worry about my bank balance ever because i know exactly where all my money goes and i know i have money saved if something goes wrong. You may not be able to plan for everything but when something does happen how nice would it feel to know you have enough money for 3+ months expenses which gives you time to sort things out and removes a lot of stress.0 -

Which has nothing to do with OP's query.
Why are you persisting in digging at the OP. Their financial history has nothing to do with their query.Life in the slow lane0 -
So to close the issue originally raised. Halifax have contacted me today and I have got my £243 refunded plus £110 in compensation. Very pleased with the outcome and hopefully won’t be getting anymore issues.
Thank you for all the advice.0 -

This is a discussion forum and i'm having a discussion with the OP about how they could have avoided this mess to start with and how to prevent it in the future.
If people only specifically answered the query being asked then they would miss out on other opinions and it would be a very boring forum.
Like they say prevention is better than cure so other people reading this may like to read peoples opinions on how situations like this could be avoided.0
