STAC codes

Hi,

At the beginning of December I was out of contract with EE and requested a STAC code to move to 3 and get a new number.

A couple of days after receiving my new phone I realised my old sim was still working, a 3 employee told me the process can take 30 days. At the end of the 30 days, during which EE billed me as normal, I went to an EE store and was told the process can take up to 3 months and if I was billed again for January to contact them again.

I really don't believe the process should take as long as this, though I can't find any definitive regulations, so if anybody has any advice it's greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are you sure you ordered a Stac code because that is for terminating your number and you will be given a new number.

Or was it a Pac code which will transfer to another network 3 and can take a while but normally its done with-in a couple of days unless there is a problem on the transfer but shouldn't take a month...i got a code from ID mobile and transferred it to Smarty mobile and it took just over a day and was up and running.

If it was a STAC code then once your new provider had processed it service should have terminated within a couple of days. At least that is my experience on two stac codes i used last month.

If they took up to three months they would be pointless as you'd be better iff just giving normal notice.

You need to ask your old provider if the code has been processed or not and if not ask your new provide why it was not processed according to your instructions.
