8 days with no alcohol now for me, which is probably the longest period without a beer since records began!
Have been enjoying some alcohol free options and feel less stressed with the kids etc.
Sleep has settled down.
Big test tomorrow when I go to the football to watch Leicester City - for decades this has been a "meet up and have a few beers" routine for me!0 -
nothing for me since new years eve, so its currently the 10th, and we are a third of the way through the month, with not even an inkling of a tipple!
Easier than I thought, although I am doing a whole new fitness programme/diet plan so maybe my head is just in that "health mode"Mortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190 -

Well done. I've also been to the gym a couple of times and trying to eat healthy. But what I don't want to do is get to February and revert straight back to drinking 6 cans of lager every night. I really would like to enjoy the occasional drink at home, and sitll be able to have a night out every now and then, but don't want to go back to being an every day drinker!0 -
Hello and how's everyone doing?
Have to say I was somewhat tempted at the weekend to have a drink, especially on Friday at lunch time when OH was having a glass of chilled white wine right in front of me. Had 2 tonics (no gin) on Friday evening and one on Sunday afternoon.
Met up with some friends on Saturday, and that was interesting. One of them said they'd just done 100 days without alcohol but then it turns out that they had had 13 cheat days. Erm... that makes it 87 days then?! Great achievement, do doubt but it's not quite 100 days, it's 'almost 100 days'..... Still, could be an interesting one to try but not quite for me at the moment... let's get to the end of January first.
I had to resort to having a couple of ice creams at the weekend (thinking of them as my 'life line') but will go back to straight an narrow now for the week (no ice cream or biscuits during the week).
On exercise front, I missed out on my Sunday morning jog (5k) and had a pretty lazy day indoors mainly (very enjoyable!!!) .... but I did walk 12,000 steps on Saturday (8k). I had set a target to do 3 x exercise for the week which I managed so pleased with that.
What have your highs and lows been?
Stripeyfox - very impressed with your attempt, especially as it sounds as you usually drink every day!0 -
Good morning and Happy 2nd sober weekend!
I managed fine but had two cigarettes (not when stressed or similar - resisted them, but one each after dinner). Space for improvement but getting there. Not drinking wasn't a issue luckily but OH struggled I think, he was very snappy. I actually starting to feel better for it. I have a fantastic Monday morning (unheard of, lol) and my face skin seems less dry and flaky (use to be bad recently but totally improved, hope it's not just coincidence). Here's to another week.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

Morning. Managed to make it through another sober weekend which included a couple of challenges where drink would normally have been involved. Firstly, went to the match on Satuday (Leicester v Southampton) with a group of mates who I've been going with for years and years. Came under a bit of pressure to have a drink, but didn't cave in.
Secondly - Sunday - and my OH wasn't working which would usually involved wine, gin and beer on Sunday afternoon / evening but again - we just had tonic water or AF beer.
Feel pretty pleased with myself. Have lost about 6lb in weight and feel a bit fresher this morning (for a Monday!)0 -
arriving a bit late but hey ho!
weekend was easy for me drink wise - I was out on both the Friday and Saturday night for family events (Granny's 90th birthday). I drove everyone, so no temptation for me to drink! I stuck to the pints of water so my water intake has increased massively - usually other than coffee and alcohol, I never drink enough.
Been to the gym everyday, had 4 PT sessions and managed to run 5k. I hate running, but I need to increase my cardio as im mainly into weightlifting. It was a very slow 5k, but I didn't stop to walk at any point and I got it done. now my personal challenge is to improve my time over the next couple of weeks.
PS I also lost 6lbs between 4th and 11th JanMortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190 -

That's brilliant.
Another benefit I noticed - I checked my fitbit stats and my average resting heart rate over a 30 day period which was consistently around 88 throughout December has dropped right off since the turn of the year and is now 62!0 -

Same here. Not much of a trend yet but went from avg 66 in Dec to avg 60 the last two weeks,DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
I don't feel any different as yet.
Sleep is still all over the place, which was my main motivation. Decided not to have a drink for the relative's birthday, might as well carry on being good for now.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
