I just wonder if we were all sat in a room face to face your responses/replies would have been the same.
I think not.
Why did I think this forum would be any different from any other faceless encounter on the internet.
Thank you to anyone who gave a polite reply it was much appreciated.0 -

Exactly the same as what i've said to you here.0 -
You think incorrectly then. Again.I just wonder if we were all sat in a room face to face your responses/replies would have been the same.
I think not.
If one of my colleagues, friends or relatives asked the same question in person, I’d give them the same answer. That yes, they’re liable and should pay.
I’m not in the habit of telling people what they want to hear when they’re blatantly wrong. Online or in person.0 -
Disregarding the issue of whether you are legally obliged to pay which has been answered, maybe a good time to start checking your bank statements and credit card statements more carefully.September 2018 I renewed my home insurance with the insurance company, whom I have been with for many years. DD is set for 4 payments a year, they take the 1st instalment as I renewed.
September 2019 I renew again, and again DD is set for 4 payments a year they take the 1st instalment at renewal.
Mid Dec I receive a letter saying my card set up for the DD is about to expire and could I send details of the new card.
I then get a letter saying that I owe £348 from the previous year (sept '18-Sept '19) due to an error on their behalf!
So when I phone them up to give the new card details I mention the other letter about the £348 asked why it happened (my card details were ok at that time) and I didn't think I should pay as it was their fault, they then agreed to reduce it to half. But I need to know if I am legally obliged to pay this now, they didn't find this amount missing when I made my renewal in September 2019.
TYIA for any helpful advice0 -

This place is very harsh on new people I'm afraid, they think every new poster is trying to get out of paying or after compensation.
As you probably realise they are correct in what they've said, it's just the way they do it.0 -
Have you not read the OP's posts, this is exactly what they are wanting to do. He's clearly stated he doesn't think he should have to pay and everyone else has made it clear, regardless of any !!!!-up by the insurer, he is still liable for the payments. I don't see what's "harsh" about this. This place is very harsh on new people I'm afraid, they think every new poster is trying to get out of paying or after compensation.

Precisely this. Yes, the insurance company made an error but you should also have noticed and queried it earlier. Just take what they've offered and move on.0 -
