Currys Discount Code Honoured and Then Removed

Hi,
I wonder if anyone could advise please?
I bought an integrated Fridge/Freezer (F/F) from Curry's for £349. When it was delivered we realised it was the wrong door split...ordered a 70/30 and it should have been a 50/50. So Curry's took it back there and then.
Phoned Curry's and arranged a swap for exactly the same F/F but a 50/50 door version. That was cheaper at £299, and said they'd refund the difference of £50. Only received £10, and when I queried it, they said they will not honour their own online discount code of £40 I used. Surely this is in breach of customer rights, ethics and company policy? It's not as if a new order number was generated, Curry's amended the existing order with the new F/F but removed the discount code already applied to that same order. If I had bought the correct F/F originally, I would have received that discount
Where do I stand on this? Is there anywhere else I can complain?
Appreciate any comments please.
Thank you

What were the terms of the discount? Was it dependant on spending a particular amount?
Did you order the wrong item or did currys advertise an item that doesn't exist?
In any event, you can cancel. But only in one of those could you realistically have any grounds for arguing you shouldn't be worse off.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Hi,
Thank you for the quick reply.
It was a £40 discount code across all fridge/freezers (a code given on Curry's web site to enter at checkout).
I purchased it online on the 11th Dec, but as I also purchased installation and recycling they could only deliver on the 24th Dec.
When Curry's delivered it, the Curry engineer realised that I ordered the wrong product - it should have been 50/50, not 70/30...my fault 100%. I live overseas for a number of years now and rent out my home - the tenant preferred a 70/30 door split, and not thinking properly, order that and completely forgot about the physical door sizes.
Both versions 50/50 and 70/30 were available at the time of the original order.
Thank you0 -
Your mistake I'm afraid. Can't see you having much joy if the offer had expired when the different one was requested. To all intents and purposes it was a new order.
"If I had bought the correct F/F originally" - you didn't though did you.0 -
Hi,
Fair enough, understand that, but a new order using the original old order number - Just doesn't "sit right" with me.
Anyway, I guess "Buyer Beware" if you purchase from Currys, you'll loose any discounts if the promo is no longer running when you need to swap or exchange an item.
Thanks for all the input - much appreciated.0 -

Thanks, but disagree
I was verbally informed on the telephone call that £50 would be refunded......
Do you perhaps work for Currys?0 -

What part of "I'm not an advocate of Currys" didn't you understand?0 -
1)ordered a 70/30
2)the tenant preferred a 70/30 door split,
Can't see the problem.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Exactly.
When you made the exchange, the promotion had ended so no discount.
Even though you changed your mind and were then supplied with a different item, it was effectively a new purchase as the original contract of sale was for a different item at a different price and ordered on a different day.0
