Hope you have managed to phone the shop, and appealed to their better judgement? A polite, pleasant call with a 'hope you can help' opening generally works wonders. Hope it does so in this case.

Of course, if you don't get a chance to attempt cancelling you may well find on collection that they do not suit you at all... another plea for help?

I do hope that you can get it sorted.
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

  • Thank you Katiehound

Today has been quite worrying and stressful and still not resolved so I haven't even attempted to cancel. Have to keep phones clear.

I only wanted to know if I had a right to cancel and it seems to be a resounding 'no'. Fair enough.

Depending on how things turn out today re my brother I might just try and have a chat with the opticians tomorrow. As I have no experience in this area I really am unsure about varifocals.

I will be my normal polite friendly self. Unlike some.

Thank you for your kindness.........and to all other posters that replied in this vein.

this would help if i knew which opticians you went to but.....

i just did a search online for 'cancelling a specsavers order' and it gave me a phone number and an email address, so maybe if you do a similar search it will give you an email address too.

    hope you get it sorted

One a lighter note...has anyone seen the latest Specsavers ad, the one with the gorgeous fluffy white cat that you just want to reach out and cuddle and the door fitter? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

There is no right to cancel if signed up in a shop.

You are presumed to be a grown adult and know what you are doing, if this is not the case then you should not be out on your own

Cancel rights apply online, not High Street

But worth trying anyway, it would be goodwill gesture but they may well oblige

How rude,:eek:not everyone has the confidence to speak up.

If you want a decent cheap physical placed opticians I cannot recomend Asda more! I used to use specsavers until the discount disappeared and was added back on in extras that you needed. Asda do not do extras and give you what you need. Though I am in a health scheme and can get around 3 pairs a year on it anyway (2.something!).

For what it's worth I will add that I could never consider varifocals and I have got to the stage I will need reading glasses soon (though I do understand they more try to force them on the primerily long stighted)). I looked into them and they sound a horrible bodge. Maybe some people can put up with it but I will not. I will even have a retest if I think the prescription has been done wrong (and just becuase 2 do not agree does not mean it has as the valuews are more complicated than that, I just insist on being able to see!).
  • Thank you Purpleybat

will get on to that..........I can only ask........... and see what happens...........:)

A very inconsiderate comment with no appreciation for the fact that sales people are often forceful & prey upon those lacking in confidence.

When I worked in banking, the amount of elderly people who were practically bullied into signing things they couldn’t afford was huge, simply because those salespeople took advantage of their politeness.
