It's do to with how MSE pays for itself and what's happened since Martin Lewis sold control to moneysupermarket.2 -
General_Grant said:I see that another (or perhaps only now obvious) way MSE is making money is by using Skimlinks. I assume others get the message, "We invest time and money to bring you this content. It can only exist if we are able to earn money back after you’ve read this content. Skimlinks and its data partners use cookies to collect and use data (cookie identifiers, device identifiers, information about your interests, IP) for Information storage and access, Personalisation, Ad selection, delivery, reporting, Google, Linking Devices and Measurement. By clicking «continue to site», you indicate your consent for these cookies. You can withdraw your consent or read about your data rights and our legitimate interest on data usage here.Skimlinks Privacy Policy." when they try clicking on the links to potential search terms in, say, the first post of this thread.
ETA: I have clicked on the ~"data partners" link and don't see MSE listed so perhaps not MSE. Wonder how it works. Also, certain links in the forum posted by users have a software called Skimlinks added. This simply tracks the link to MSE. These look and work in the same way as normal links. If someone clicks through, the link is tracked and it may generate a payment to the site (see Skimlinks factsheet for more details). We only use affiliate links that give you an identical (or better) deal than going direct. However, as these are technologically generated, issues can happen, so please let us know if you spot any.
If you don't want skimlinks then unclick the appropriate box in your profile

I usually use my SB to exchange for £50 MasterCard and then via PayPal invoice myself to get £48.25. I have been doing this for over a year without any issues. However, this is no longer acceptable as apparently in the conditions you cannot use MasterCard for any PayPal transaction. Just giving the heads up for anyone else who has done this in the past.🙁2020

AscendMedia on Discover
When I click the link on SB to go there I'm being told the site may be down and that it can't be connected. Is anyone else getting this?0 -
Yes, looks as though AdscendMedia is down at the moment.

Yeah, I'm just blase about the certificates, got it on chrome and pressed proceed anyway. Maybe delete their cookies if you don't mind an absent certificate.
Edit: that would be easier said than done as I can't find any adscend cookies on my chrome.1 -
I did nothing, and its back :-)1
