Car Insurance Claim Costs

I may be slightly behind so opplogies if this has been delt with elsewhere...
After driving without any claims for 20+ yrs (upto 2017) I had a run of bad luck and had a few claims over the past 3 years. While serching for new quotes before switching I noticed a fairly new box that insurance companies & comparisson sites are asking for and that is asking for "Claim Amount" (roughly), basically asking for how much the cliam cost. Of which, of course considering my own claims I had no idea. I searched my claim records and found that none of my insurnce claims volunteered the cost of the repairs / claims. It is suggested that I find out the cost of the claim by asking the insurance companies I have been with (prefferably at the time or soon after the claim). This I found a bit irritating as I wanted to get quotes now and was geared upto it!
My question, or perhaps statment is - Why is it not a manditory requirement for insurance compamies to freely declare this information to their customers after their claim is settled. Why should we 'the customer' have to 'ask' if we wnt to know?
Should this now not be compulsary for insurance companies to divulge this information freely, especilly as we the customers are now being regularly asked for this information when applying for new insurance?
Does anyone else have any thoughts on this....?

I'd have zero interest in what it cost my insurance company and have never been asked.0
