October Half Term Suggestions

Hi
I am looking for a family holiday (2 Adults and 2 kids under 12)
around October half term this year (from Oct 24th).

Looking for exotic beach resorts and ideally would like go somewhere like Bali or the Maldives but these destinations are too far for a week.

Anyone suggest anything closer for a week's holiday in October?
I rather avoid the popular Canary Islands, Spain etc

Thanks

  • Barbados? Weather shouldn't be too bad as its coming out the rainy season and an 8 hour flight

I have considered the Caribbean but isn't October the time of the Hurricane season?

Morocco? Quite "exotic" but not long haul.

Not worth going long haul for just a week.

Barbados tends to miss it, I was there early November and had one rain shower, but anywhere tropical will be subject to the same

Went to Diani beach in Kenya in early November a few years ago. Pretty cheap and easy to get to for a week if you just want to lounge by the pool or beach.

I've done Hong Kong and Bali in a week (split centre). Not ideal but as I only had a week off work it was go for a week or not go at all. So although longish flying time in total (although what's a few hours out of a holiday??), I really enjoyed the sightseeing followed by the relaxing on the beach. Obviously this was before the protests in HK so if I did it this year I'd probably just have the full week in Bali.

Never been nor wish to but have you considered Dubai?

Friends went to Cape Verde earlier in the year and said it was very windy and little to do or see. :( They did enjoy seafood though. :)

I've only done historical trips to Egypt (Nile and Cairo) but resorts do seem to be coming back into favour. :)
  • Not exotic, but check out the IKOS resorts in Greece. Fantastic facilities and ultra AI.
