Electricity outage - Utility Point not open until Monday - What to do?!
Long story short, when we switched from EDF to Utility Point the meter wasn’t switched over to credit mode, so when the money ran out it went off (last night).
We called Utility Point at 6:15 last night and were told that they’d send someone out within three hours. This person never turned up and we’ve now been without electricity for over 12 hours. Our flat is freezing cold and we have no food. We stand to be without electricity until Monday at the earliest.
My partner or I will have to take time off work to wait for someone to turn up on Monday. We have considered going to a hotel and trying to claim the money back but we don’t even trust that Utility Point will accept responsibility (as most companies don’t nowadays). Is there anything we can do?
Also take this as a review of Utility Point. They should be avoided at all costs. Any energy company that doesn’t work 24/7 should be avoided like the plague. We now know this.
PS - The emergency numbers listed on their site are useless because they are only for National Grid type outages, and not metering issues.

What happens if you try to top up the way you used to? What is the message on the UP number when called out of hours?
Is there no emergency credit facility on the meter?
Have you called 105? Although they are essentially for dealing with supply failures rather than meter disconnections, they may have access to unpublished emergency numbers or may be able to offer some advice. No harm in asking !0 -
I asked and they can’t do anything.0

Managed to get this sorted using a very unconventional method of contacting Utility Point. I won't say how (because they almost certainly wouldn't want everyone with a problem doing what I did), but they sorted it out same day.
Not having effective weekend service is clearly a major flaw in their business model and one which they should probably deal with pronto.0 -
It’s an issue that a lot of the small suppliers have, which obviously they don’t advertise.0
