I've sussed out Amazon "we missed you" deliveries...

I've just had to arrange my own pickup to return a large and heavy item to Amazon (which might get its own rant thread, we'll see how things go).
Wifey caught the guy sneaking away after dropping a 'sorry we missed you' slip through the door!
He came back and took it once she called after him, but if you thought it would be different when YOU are their customer, rather than the recipient, well it would seem not.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). I assume they get paid twice if they have to make two trips to an address.
This does not excuse the examples given here of there obviously being no attempt to actually deliver a parcel, of course.
Personally, I've never experienced anything like this from Amazon couriers, but I once missed having a letter delivered (even though I was in) and had to go to a Royal Mail depot to collect it. The letter turned out to be an advertising circular!0 -
Out here in the country the delivery guys are fantastic ( in my experience ) One even rang me to tell me that because I wasn't there he had hidden my parcel in a particular spot and had signed for it himself because he knew it was a phone and I would be wanting it that day
That is not just a stackable offence amongst the reputable delivery companies, it is fraud.
If the driver knows the customer well, he may be willing to take the risk, but a risk it is.
I have known situations identical to this where the parcel still goes missing.
Nearly all parcel companies offer a 'signed for' service, therefore a signature should be obtained. The only exception to this is when a customer has authorised a shipment to be left in a specified place. The authorisation should be logged or recorded and the customer made aware that the security of the parcel is then their responsibility.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0
