In the absence of punctuation, it could mean either

ipad pro NOT MINI he wanted

...iPad Pro, not the mini he wanted.....or
...iPad Pro, not the mini, he wanted.

I take it that as
NOT MINI was in caps, then that was what they wanted....

We will just have to wait and see if the OP comes back with a update

I bought an ipad mini for me Dad last wkend and as I showed it to him i noticed that half the cellophane was hanging off the box. Where u would pull the tab to open the sealed outer box.

I stopped my dad in his tracks and luckily he then said it was wrong one and ipad pro NOT MINI he wanted aghh.
