Hi everyone,
dumpling and Tru, I have a Bigshot I use to cut fabric. I'm afraid I don't use it as often as I should because I think it's a bit wasteful of fabric.
Another thread on the board about surveillance cameras in supermarkets has reminded me I was in a busy M & S the other day and when I reached the self-checkout till it had a message saying that a card had been declined. The person before me had walked off with £50 of shopping while the assistant was helping someone else. In the same vein the local Lidl had self service tills and I was almost sure I saw a woman with a full trolley walk through them without even scanning anything (they didn't have an assistant on them all the time). I didn't report her because I hadn't been watching her the whole time and couldn't be certain of my facts. A couple of weeks later the tills were removed and I asked an assistant if it was because of stealing and she said it was.
I haven't removed any decs yet but must make a start today. I am also planning a quilt for Esben - Laura asked if I was but I have been waiting for inspiration to strike. I've now come up with an idea but it needs careful planning.0 -
Morning all
bella ...ouch sounds like a chill day is in order
Having an interesting morning (and its only 9.30) Today was a day I dread every year sorting out the books for my hugely disorganised friend. Started sending all his stuff through to my accountant who came back to me saying he was doing my tax and it seems I have paid too much (bizarre imo) anyway he wouldn't say how much so I can dream for now
Yesterday a very good friend passed away......my kettle  as such todays work will have to be accompanied by microwaved coffee ewwww. New one arriving tomorrow but boy I miss it.
Made some chicken, leek and mushroom pasties yesterday and had one last night with beans .....gorgeous and 6 for the freezer. Rule now is though no more in only stuff out ...fingers crossed it doesnt go the way of the kettle. So tonight I quite fancy a pizza with some of the continental meats i have left from Christmas
Right back to the books have a great day all0 -
It seems the not sleeping is catching. OH and I sat up reading and drinking tea at 1am, he settled down I was still awake at 6am......Then fell into a deep sleep, so now I feel like something the brought in and forgot.
All plans for the day have been shelved apart from ironing the bed linen, will do half today and the rest tomorrow.
Supper tonight, fish and chips.0 -
Morning all
I feel a bit more productive today and I have cleaned the bathroom, put the folding bed down and put the bedding away. I had to enlist the muscle (aka Mr Fix It :rotfl: ) to put the other bed down. I can put it up but it's too heavy to put down and can take my arm off  . I have rearranged the spare bedroom and put my crafting table back in place. I am having a quick coffee before I get out the xmas boxes ready for tomorrow when we take down the decs. I now have room in the office to tidy that too, at least I can see some floor as it has become a bit of a dumping ground.
I have some washing to do this afternoon, last weeks bedding for a start. I need to empty the bird feeder and wash it out as the food has become waterlogged, I don't understand how. The poor dickie birds were pecking at it like mad this morning. Perhaps it's time to get a new one anyway.
I will sort out my overflow cupboard too, I'm sure there are still some Xmas food items hidden in there .
I've been soooo long in posting this that I need another coffee before I get going
Bellabella this made me a laugh out loud because I read "a quick tidy round before the blind man comes to measure up the conservatory" and I thought how could a blind man see to do that ?I eventually twigged so now I must get my glasses and my mind checked out :rotfl:. Sorry
JackieO I'm sure the DGGD will come when she's ready. She's better off being cwtched up with her Mummy in this weather. Keep us posted please.
Sending healing vibes to all the poorly people and hugs to anyone who needs or wants some.
Take care all

Will hang the washing out when its finished as its a blowy day here and the sun is shining.

Afternoon all! Another very slow start tot he day but the fire has been cleaned and re-laid for after, the WM is on and will have two loads, the decs will come of the stairway..Wood is arriving Monday, OH has two new pairs of waterproof boot type things...Unfortunately, i saw a very cheap pair of snow boots that I liked the look of too so I bought them. However, I can put the wool insoles that someone bought me last year in them so they have finally become useful
.My shoes are ever increasing..Also got myself a steam cleaner for the kitchen floor. It's original terracotta tiles and really needs a good scrub with a machine and resealing but it'll wait till the big build...My sister swears by hers, and there's no doubt plenty of places I could use it, so yesterday was a bit spendy but there are no more purchases planned for this month.
I also used my 10p off a litre petrol voucher and bought some veg. This will be going into ramen after and using the leftover pork slices. I feel all organised for a change.
I think I will also stir the OH [ who has a bad back and has done for a few days] to go see his mother and we can give them their Christmas presents...very late...oops...on the plus side, I've joined a mutual aid group and have so far given away a sewing machine and will be receiving two spanking new books which I will also give to OHs mum.
Nelski, my condolences...Glad to hear people are doing well, except for no sleep till Brooklyn and colds and viruses..Fighting fit Friday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Good afternoon
I'm a bit late today. Ironic really as we were up and out of the house by 7:30 for DH to go for a blood test. Not a problem for me as I'm usually awake at silly o'clock. Much harder for DH who doesn't know there are two 7 o'clocks in one day!
Anyway, since then we've been to Morrison's for breakfast and shopping, taken down the decorations and tree, and had lunch. Think I need to pause now and have a look at the crossword.
Guys and Dolls yesterday was very good. Wonderful cast and very clever staging. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Been reading about Dumpling's crafting machines. Am intrigued and am about to Google but suspect it may be too technical for me!
Beautifully sunny here. Hope it is shining on you0 -
Afternoon everyone
Just having a catch up and need to do my online banking. Went into town this morning with eldest DD - she bought half of Home Bargains to take back to Sweden with her on Monday! Everything is so expensive there. Also had a lovely hot chocolate and a lemon muffin.
It's little grand daughter's first birthday today! We're all having a tea party at my mam and dads later and then she'll have another party with her little friends in a little hall tomorrow afternoon - it was already booked out for today.
Had my little great nephew yesterday so eldest DD could spend some time with him - he's such a little character and never stopped talking. He told me I have a very small TV - and it's a bit dusty under it! It is to be fair.
Well better sort my bank. Hope everyone has a good day.0 -

That is so funny and it reminded me of when my Jemima was very small. She used to run her fingers along pieces of furniture tutting loudly if there was any dust. Not so bad in our house but mortifying when visiting friends and family :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Forgot to say, meteor showers tonight, so if the sky is clear....:)Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
