O/S Daily Friday 3 January 2020

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Welcome to the newbies - lovely to see the thread with more posters.

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x

Dark, raining and wet underfoot.

Dinner last night was roast chicken, mash, veg, yorkshires (previously cooked and frozen) and gravy. Not sure about tonight's dinner but have different bits in the fridge and will be getting a few supplies to get us back to normal next week.

Today I also need to clean bathrooms and change beds. I would like to do some menu planning too and need to sort out my 2020 diary and swap my handbag over as my existing one the zip keeps playing up and it's looking a bit worse for wear so needs to go.

Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning all x and thanks nlmc for starting us off x
Well bad night's sleep thanks to brain not shutting up and dog not settling. So forgive me if I ramble.
Today's chores are to clean fish tank.... Ironing.... And usual housework.
Dinner tonight will be a low calorie butter chicken if I can find the recipe again.
Need to arrange for builders to come out and quote for the kitchen extension at some point or the project will never get started.
Right now dog is cuddling into me and making it difficult to get started.
DH off to work and dd is moving upstairs.
    Better move myself.
Hugs to all in need x
    Bright Blessings xx

    Morning :hello:

dumpling I meant to say the other day, I'm jealous of your craft machines! I keep meaning to buy one but I'd like to find somewhere where I can try them out before deciding which one. I don't think that place exists, lol, so I'll have to watch a few youtube videos instead.

I had sorting-things-out plans for yesterday but mum, dad and LM turned up just as I got home from walking Scamp so I thought I'd make a start after they'd left. But they stayed til just before lunchtime, by the time I'd eaten and washed up, all enthusiasm for any sort of housework had gone and I had to force myself to be busy. I did manage to take down about half of the decorations, it took ages because instead of doing it all at once then cleaning like I usually do, I did one little area at a time then cleaned that bit. I have two clean windows and window sills, one clean back door and four clean shelves :D

I've been eating normally – mostly! - for the last couple of days, I feel so much better. I have plenty of veg but I'm almost out of fruit. I'm hoping there's some tinned fruit in the cupboard, that'll do til I can get to the shops.

After the last three months or so of loss of routine and rushing around, I need to get organised. I'll start with that calendar – I'm still convinced I had it ready! - then will go through spreadsheets carefully to make sure everything is up to date. I also want to sort the cupboards and freezers, I've lost track of what's in them. Then I'll start a shopping list. I have a few bits of work-related things, I'll get that into order then set aside a morning to get it done. I'm going to take my time so it'll be days before I'm even close to being back on track :D

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It still seems dark outside. I had a rubbish night too LWW. Every so oft I have a good night then pay for it by having a string of rubbish ones.

Just half a Friday Tidy left to do today (upstairs) as I did the downstairs yesterday when I took the tree and decs down.

I sorted out the freezers yesterday and, other than buying fruit, veg and dairy I am determined to live out of them for quite a while to come.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of one. Take care all xx

    Morning All

Breezy out this morning but dry so far. Yesterday was really miserable but cheered up by meeting the lovely Gers for coffee and a chat. What a miracle that hip operation is, great to see such a change in someone.

DD and I are going to Costco today, we are both short of toilet rolls but apart from that just going for a nosey.

Really need to start eating a little more healthily but there's still cheese in the fridge! Any sweets and biscuits can go into work on Monday.

    Take care. XX

    Good Morning all,

Ouch, Bella Bella. Hope your finger heals quickly.

Had a lie in until 7.30am today, but managed to give the kitchen a tidy, and dusted all the glass shades on the standard lamp in the sitting room.

Just taking a short break before tackling the recycling pile, our rubbish collection was missed yesterday, so I will put in our shed until next week.

Popping up to see my parents today, so will go via the shop as I get their provisions for them. Probably, will have a game of scrabble with mum, so a fun day.

    Take care all

    XX

It certainly feels like a miracle! From crippling pain > operation > two days of morphine > pain free is fabulous. I was taking Tramadol, Naproxen and paracetamol every day.

    Morning folks.

I've just woken up, only one pit stop overnight followed by an hour of sleeplessness, not too bad.

Later this morning I'm going to meet up with a friend to visit an historic house in Glasgow. It's not a country house, it's in a suburb south of the river though it was built to a design by Alexander (Greek) Thompson. He's the second most famous architect in Glasgow after Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Just a brief outing.

DM wants the decs left up until after her visitor on Saturday. I don't use the sitting room so it's fine by me.

Fridge still stuffed though I managed to declutter two chocolates from an almost empty box. :rotfl:

    Happy Friday to all.

Edit to say say to Bella OMG, hope you heal fast.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I'm another one who had a bad night's sleep. I gave up and got up at 6am only to fall asleep sitting up on the settee. Phoebe made me a cup of tea and now I don't feel quite so much like a slug.

My best friend is coming to see me this afternoon so I will be chivvying the kids to have a bit of a tidy up before she comes. I still have my Christmas presents piled up next to where I sit so I will be getting them put away today as well.

I am having a date night tonight with Steve and we are having a steak dinner. I am too sore to go out so this will be the next best thing. I want this to happen at least every month but hopefully actually going out for lunch or dinner. I need to see my doctor if my leg doesn't improve. I'm actually walking a lot worse now than when I left the hospital so goodness knows what I have done to it.

Tru, I have been very fortunate and spoiled by Steve in that he has bought me all my machines. I would recommend the Sizzix Big Shot as a good starter machine as you can use almost all the different size dies in it. They are not too expensive either and there are always second hand ones for sale on Ebay.

Right, I am off to try and wangle another cup of tea. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
