Please please help with switch !!!

:( I'm pretty much having a meltdown about switching my tv/broadband package.
I've been with Virgin for 5 years, and my actual contract ran out a couple of months ago, so all my discounts ended and I'm now paying £55.00 PM.
Despite telling them several times on the phone that I'm leaving, and a New customer can get MY package for £33.00, they refuse to offer me a new deal and won't reduce my bill for a new contract.

Looking around all I keep seeing is NOW TV with only 14 channels or similar so I really have no idea who to go with, to get a full package cheaper than I'm paying now.

I'm all compared out 😫😞

Please please help/advise before I go insane !!! xxx

Usually, the only way to get any decent discount from Virgin is to call them and give them 30 days notice to cancel all services. Then wait and hopefully their Outbounds team will phone you within a week (from experience) and make you a better offer (Make sure you are opted in for Marketing preferences). You can always stop the cancellation if they don't call you (or you missed their calls) before all services are cancelled, and try it all again a few days later. You cannot contact Outbounds team directly btw.

You haven't mentioned exactly what bundle you currently have?

Looking at Virgin website, For £33pm (rising to £54pm), 'Big' bundle gets you 50Mb broadband, all the 'free' TV channels and telephone line rental. No premium channels such as Sky 1, movies or sports channels.

fyi, NOW Entertainment pass only offer 14 premium channels including Sky 1.

If you want the other free channels, you will either need a TV aerial for Freeview (all modern TVs have freeview decoder), or a satellite dish and multiple expensive sat boxes to get Freesat.

Sky is only other major player who can offer all channels using their Sky Q satellite boxes through a satellite dish.
  • We will be leaving shortly. Last time we told them we would leave we got an incredible deal with them so stayed. This time we will leave because we are fed up with being treated like cash cows, loyalty counts for very little with them.

It helps that we are not too bothered about the TV, our TV is freeview and freesat so access to quite a few channels anyway.

We are considering going with Sky essentials, looks like a good deal.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

Yes that's the bundle I have. I keep trying the leaving thing, I've spoken to them several times and cancelled, then cancelled that, bit nothing changes. They're more interested in new customers than loyal ones.

Well if you ring up to cancel and then all back and tell them you want to stay then they obviously won't offer you a deal.

Ring them up cancel it and don't go agree to reinstate the services unless they offer you a deal. The worst case scenario is that the service ends and you just go with someone else.
