Good idea - they did say they cant do £300k but I didnt get an actual confirmation yet where we have clearly stated we aren't proceeding.
I am almost certain we wont proceed but I suppose I wont know until Monday now. Unless she does work weekends?0 -
Going back to previous posters figures around HTB, I have a 15% equity loan, this is not my forever house, but I will stay for at least 5 years. HTB was my only option as couldn't raise a deposit for houses in SE, but I have a good salary and could easily afford the repayments. Therefore by overpaying the mortgage each month by the difference between what I pay, and would have paid for a 95% mortgage, after 5 years that will pretty much cover the equity loan. I know its not quite as simple as that, but for me it is a good option at the moment. And beats renting, as my mortgage is less than my rent was. I think the thing to remember is the HTB loan isn't free money, and a plan of how it is going to be repaid should be made right at the beginning of buying the house. The new house premium is a bit of a risk, and I wont know the impact of that for ages, new houses on my estate of the same design as mine are selling for 24k more than mine, after only 6 months. But no one knows what the future holds …...0

I agree with Andysandy. If they were willing to sell an identical house for roughly £300,000 then they can also sell you your home for that amount and not more. Remember that they're trying to get as much out of you as they can (that's their job) so they've no motivation to offer you a big discount unless you tell them they have to or lose the sale completely.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope the stress of possibly moving doesn't add to the health woes.0 -
