  • Hi Knights

Well that is curious. Appears the branches must have differing information. I am not too surprised, as written information is seriously lacking.

I guess time will tell. I will pop into my branch soon after 1st April to get my book updated and will post here whether any interest included. Know this time lapse will not help SS2. but it will certainly finalise this discrepancy !

    Regards - Ted
  • Nick_C, thanks for the information on the Yorkshire BS Internet Saver. I agree it sounds like it is worth putting in the feeder account section. Do you (or anybody else here) know whether it allows future-dated withdrawals?

Knights and interest Ted, thanks for the further info on Magic 8. I am in a real hurry right now but I shall re-read both your posts and try and put something not too contradictory into my entry on the Magic 8 account.

I will update the first posts of this thread this weekend including any further updated interest rates, updating the Magic 8 entry and adding the YBS Internet Saver to the feeder section.

I've logged into my account to have a look at the current state of play.

You can set up regular payments to internal Yorkshire accounts and save external account details and make external payments. There is no facility to make future dated payments to external accounts (I'm sure this is intentional to prevent customers using the Internet Saver effectively as a current account as they could have easily included the future payments facility in their recent site upgrade).

There is a facility to deposit into the Internet Saver by debit card but, according to the site, such deposits earn interest after 2 working days and are only available for withdrawal after 3 working days and do not immediately show in your account balance.
    Up Tipp!
  • I have incorporated all the above comments into the first posts of this thread.

For the feeder account section, I have included information from the Yorkshire BS website as well as the information from the above posts. The delays in transferring money in and out mentioned on the website make this account seem a bit less attractive to me but I have put all the details in my feeder section so that people can make their own minds up.

I have also checked all the interest rates for all the regular savings accounts but there have been no further changes, in particular Skipton BS have not cut the rates on their two 7.55% accounts.

Skipton are cutting their Christmas Saver and Special Saver rates from 7.55% to 7.30% with effect from 21st January 2008. The info is now on Moneyfacts, here.
