Newcastle Big Home Saver, once one of the best regular savers, is finally becoming totally useless.
New rate from February 9th for all issues (1-3) will be 1.05% AER, including a 0.8% bonus.
I'll be closing my accounts with them on February 1st.0 -

I closed mine (1 & 2) exactly 1 year ago today, having almost drained them when the rate dropped to 2%.
Remember when 2% was too low to bother with?:o0 -
I just have a look on my spreadsheet. I am currently having 23 RS running under sole name. No join account. I am just aiming at those paying 2%+
RS account augmented with Instant access Easy saver for temporary accommodating is is the way to go where the interest rate hit the rock bottom.0 -

IMPRESSIVE
Is it under sole name or include the RS under OH and the one created using join A/C as a condition?
Are you also investing in RS paying less than 2% ?
Please share your knowledge to assist people to improve performance ...
List of the RS you are currently having will be very useful ...0 -

Yes, but I held out as long as I could before I moved the funds elsewhere. I still have my account as you never know. Well we do, but we can live in hopeSaved Nitty Gritty £7440.75 [149%] / £5000-[Sep] £58.44:starmod: for the 'Save 12k in 2017' #157

You are definitely right at the time. I myself even did not consider RS paying 2% at that time.
Who would want to use RS paying 2% if you could get Current account paying 3%. The drop of interest of Santander 123 A?C was already anticipated but there might be not many people thought it would be cut to 1.5% while already increasing its fee earlier last year.
People start looking into RS paying 2%+ after Santander 123 announce cutting its interest to 1.5%.
RSA is a lot of hassles but some people take it personnally as a mean for survival considering the CPI of 1.6% (or more seriously RPI 2.5%) which is eating your money on day to day basis0 -
Six months since mine matured and I missed the message about what they were going to do so a new account was opened
. Closed and proceeds transferred to my TSB current account, all arranged over internet. I then transferred the funds out to my Santander account. That might be an option for you, assuming you have a TSB current account?
