Why Bother with Leeds? Have you maxed all the 4 and 6% Regular Savings accounts?

The benefit of the Leads is that it's ongoing (until they yank it) - I guess its all down to personal circumstances if it's suitable.

Maybe if you try again, you may get someone different, they may be less busy and might process it for you?

And how does that differ to the Lloyds or TSB C/As (apart from being a poorer rate)?

    PS its Leeds

Agreed, the Leeds BS (ha!) one was one that I could vary the amount, as my job is unstable, it meant I could put more money in when I knew my job was ok for that month etc.

And almost all the others all require current accounts or are one year fixed terms.

The beauty of the issue 2 was £500 a month (not just £250 like many of the 6% bank deas), 3% ongoing so useful for building up savings not just for one year and available to anyone nationally. There are others - but locally restricted or with lower rates.

Not happy - but I can understand why they are doing this - and the issue 3 is still a market leader for accounts which aren't just for 12 months which when they mature get moved to some instant access account paying say 0.1%.

    Hi Folks,

Here is this weekend's update. Thanks to the people who have been posting useful information during the week.

    - Added Scottish BS Regular Saver to post 4 (paying 2% on up to £500 per month for 12 months)
    - Removed Marsden BS account that has been withdrawn
    - Added a note to the Leeds BS Regular Saver (Issue 3) entry to point out that the issue 1 and 2 accounts are being unexpectedly transferred to accounts paying much less interest, so the same thing could happen at some point to the issue 3 account

Interestingly, with respect to the Leeds BS issue 1 and 2 accounts, Coventry BS seem to have a completely opposite tactic. I have an old regular savings account with Coventry BS that is no longer available. Coventry BS wrote to me last month to let me know that the interest rate would remain at 3.5% and that the £20,000 cap on the account is being removed so I can continue saving for even longer at an interest rate that is better than the Leeds BS account!

I will do another update next weekend.

Just opened, what a palava with completely irrelevant questioning.

Paperwork enroute, but in the meantime does anyone know if there's any specific in the T&Cs which prohibits me changing the S/O date ?

What did it say when you checked the T&Cs?
