Following as I'm also an avid YNABer! It really is the key for me. I looooove payday, fully funding up everything. Do you plan ahead into the next month? I'm still working on a month by month basis but I do have a small emergency fund at least.2

I'm going to subscribe to this as well as a fellow YNAB fan...
I'm not a month ahead yet, focusing on my Emergency fund first

I've been using YNAB for a few years now and am now a month ahead which is brilliant as a pensioner. Also have a small emergency fund and also manage to save for a nice holiday every year.
You'll get to the month ahead eventually but it does take a while to get there. Not sure I'd have managed it without YNAB. Would like to build up the emergency fund a bit more but also still want to have nice holidays as well as it only builds slowly but we'll get there eventually as will you.

Hey frank 👋
i also LOVE the idea of being a month ahead, although I don't use ynab I just use the spending tracker app and have my pots in different bank accounts.I think I'm a long long way Off being a month ahead though. I think once I'm debt free that might be my next goal along with a healthy EF.Keep up the good debt busting

Yes I plan ahead into the next month. I did get to the stage where I was fully funding the next month too but I decided instead of just fully funding future months, I would up my savings into my S&S ISA. I honestly do not know how I managed without YNAB before....well I didn't manage! It is plain to see now.

Definitely a great idea to build that EF fund first. Do you have a diary?0 -

Yes I am a month ahead also, well the only thing that I have coming out of this months salary on the 20th is my S&S ISA contribution, so that is savings anyway. Absolutely love YNAB, wish I had found it years ago but hey ho. I agree with the balance of having a nice holiday as well as building the EF up. At the start I was too strict with myself and went without, soon realised that that was not sustainable so I think I have found the right balance now where I am putting money away but also living life. As the saying goes "Tomorrow is never guaranteed".

I also love using monzo for my pots. Is that who you use? I have heard they are not doing very well at the moment though through the pandemic. Would be a huge shame if they folded.
Wishing you luck for the rest of the year too, you've got this

Hi everyone,
So yes, I have been useless at posting recently. That needs to change so that I am staying accountable because even though I am still sticking to my budget really well using YNAB, I feel like my mindset is getting a bit sloppy (If that makes sense), maybe lost a bit of focus. But can't be too hard on myself because I am doing really well with my finances compared to the start of the year!
Lots of accounts are starting to default now and offer letter/payments are starting to be made which is great as it means the balls is well and truly rolling now. I am so glad that I have YNAB to keep track of all these small payments going out, because I am useless on Excel so it has been a godsend. It is part of my daily routine now to make sure everything is updated and only takes less than the time for the kettle to boil
I had a week off last week which was well needed. Spent the first half of the week helping a family member lay a patio! My back was in half by the end of it, but it turned out fab and I learnt lots of new skills if I ever need to do anything like that myself. The second half of the week was spent in the Brecon Beacons in my MIL' caravan. It was so peaceful and a proper reset that was needed! OH & I went on lots of walks around Brecon, such a beautiful part of the world! Weather was gorgeous too.#
In other news, the front garden project is complete. So happy with the outcome. It seems a shame to fill the area with a summer house now as it looks fab and gives us so much more space in the front garden which we didn't have before. Neighbours are jealous
I have been looking for a summer house/ gym for the last few weeks but they are so difficult to get hold of now as more people are working from home so everyone is ordering them. One company I am interested in, the waiting list in now into February 2021!! Bonkers! May just but a gazebo to tie me through the winter so that I have got a bit of shelter to train outside.
That's it from me for now. First day back to work and first day back on the 'health' wagon after a week of eating $**t. Piling the pounds on so need to pull my finger out.
Speak soon,
Frank
