Here is the typical mindset of a HPC'er, they are following yet again their tradition of what will fail in 2020, seriously. How many people last and today will be drawing up lists on what positive things they can do this year, how many are planning on fighting adversity and problems to come of 2020 a better person, but not the housepricecrash cult, and they constantly wonder how they can better their lives with a home when all the wish for is destruction.

^^^^ typical mindset of an obsessed person0

Why is it necessary to name call, using emotive language, as others have a different viewpoint to yours?
By calling them negative you're just seeking "likes", friends, people who will agree with you, so you feel better about your opinion by alienating others with a different viewpoint?
They're not harming you, or anyone.
Why try to bully people with name calling?0 -
I don’t think its name calling.
I too am interested In the psychology of those who appear to be failing and have noted some characteristics such as inability to adapt due to unwillingness to accept being wrong.
A few other characteristics are - waiting for external help (often negative for others), complaining and taking no action.
My main interest is the psychology of people who are doing well as I want to improve that.
Why is positive/negative name calling as is does sum up fairly well the characteristics of the two groups?
If studying this for my own personal betterment means I’m “obsessed” then Is that name calling?
I Don’t really care but curious why one set of names is ok and another is not.
I don’t see this set of characteristics as a “viewpoint” at all. It’s a mindset, psychology or set of characteristics.
Is calling people who want to better themselves “obsessed” not emotive and bullying?
(I’m ok with being called obsessed with bettering my own life BTW)
Is wishing for destruction of others people’s lives an acceptable viewpoint on here? I guess it is with free speech but surely were allowed to call that out also??
I’m working on my retirement plans, Career and psychology/mindset.
I think that’s positive and I don’t mind being called obsessed about bettering myself.0 -
I am not even to reply to a couple of posts, just not worth trying to get through to people with views such as "you are bullying them", Apart from that one website alone there is group think out there that must be called out that is 10,000 fold the size of this one MSE board, that is trying to convince people that their problem revolve around the unfairness of the world and how they must destroy the present status quo. to allow them onto the ride they skipped out on the 1st time(10th with some).
This is a discussion board on the subject of housing and the economy, I think it is more than reasonable that I can counter arguments that would have people just sit their lives out wishing for armageddon when there is a far better alternative. Many decent people contributed to the path I took in life, and it does not even remotely resemble the destructive path those people have taken. I am the one in my own home, secure, hopeful for the future and growing every year, but none of it came without graft and good choices.0 -

You seem to be responding to pasturesnew, but having a snide dig at me with the 'obsessed' remarks.
The OP is like a broken record on the matter. Constantly starting new threads about a single subject on another specific forum. Its borderline trolling & extremely boring. And nothing to about your little rant over bettering yourself. OP does have an unhealthy obsession with it in the same way the Daily Express is obsessed about the weather.0 -
It’s not snide at all.
I’m asking what the difference is between positive/negative which are a good and accurate description of the mindset characteristics and “obsessed” which I think is a somewhat subjective term and not particularly accurate without knowing the context of the situation.
For example I’d be intensely interest in certain matters if I was buying a house, retiring or going for an interview. That’s not obsession in those contexts.
I don’t like the negative people on here either,
I do not mean those who have a negative view of property as an investment (I share that view).
I mean those with negative characteristics such as waiting for unpleasant events for others to get what they want.
If you find it boring why not ignore the poster?
I’m sorry you find my points a rant about being positive.
Are you saying one point of view is allowed and another isn’t?
I.e. negative rants are ok but not positive ones?
You can also not read or ignore if you find me boring but that doesn’t mean you can tell other people not to post because they aren’t you’re cup of tea,
Happy new year0 -
I have no idea what youre on about with regards to me. I havent made any comment on positive/negative posts.
My quip was putely about OP's obsession with HPC. Its trolling.0 -

Is it best to just complain and take no action (negative) with little hope of changing anything?
Or take some positive action to resolve the issue?0 -
I like the comments about Jeremy Corbyn. Surely if somebody is finished in 2020 it must be him.0
