Currently watching the new Mary Poppins which I saved for today .....its getting thumbs up so far
Last day of holidays for me today... I have a work list as long as my arm for tomorrow but today its Mary and a feast for tonightFeast will be anything and everything I fancy that is still lingering so will probably include pork pie, sausage rolls, baguette, pate, salad stuff ham and turkey slices loads of chutneys and pickles and cheese to finish
and on that note I guess I will be joining you all in the post Christmas slim down. To be honest I know once Im back to my usual step count and normal food portions then it will sort itself out.
No real resolutions but I was given a lovely journal by a good friend so I would like to have a go at that as I used to write a lot and would like to get back into it.
Have a lovely day everyone and that 2020 will be your year :A0 -
Good evening friends old and new and welcome to the new folk who have come to join us.
Well a new decade ahead and who knows what it will bring.I was out with my eldest DD and her in-laws family for a pub meal in London last night and it all went very well.nice food and lots of nice conversations
all of us looking forward to the coming year My eldest granddaughter Katie,as yet hasn't given birth to my new little great-granddaughter. She is now due date+3 !! but as its a bit nippy and cold and damp I don't blame the little one for staying put.
One of the young relations there last night as his very pretty young wife are expecting their first this April and she knows it a little boy so there was a bit of baby talk at the table.
Then we were all talking about our forthcoming different holiday this year and the May wedding of my youngest granddaughter Holly. All family chit-chat really and not one mention of politics or brexit it was so nice to have a bit of normality for a change
My DD and her OH are off to see my DGS Danny in New York in March for 10 days so that will be nice.
I have two holidays already booked on the IoW already one in April and a fortnight in July, plus hopefully a week in Devon in September.
It nice to be looking forward to seeing some sunshine as I think January is such a looong grey month and it can be quite depressing at times.
I am hoping I can get to see my Dr at some point and get some physio for my shoulder which I damaged in a fall in November but we are two Drs down at our surgery at the moment so I will wait a week or sso more as they are always busy after the holidays with really poorly folk
All of my grandsons sent me texts last night after the bells which I was really pleased about. Then when we got back to DDs around 2.00.pm my eldest DGS Danny and his wife face-timed me from NYC as it still was 2019 in the USA. So I had a nice long chat with him.
All in all I have had a nice Christmas and been thoroughly spoilt and very pleasant New Year and tomorrow it's home to normality again for another Year
Just going to have our New Year's day roast beef shortly for dinner, and DD has made a nice cheese cake for pudding
I have a big audit to do in my food stocks tomorrow and a bit of menu planning as well as I have lots of left over odds and ends to take home with me.So a bit of forward planning will mean less shopping to get ,it will mainly be fresh fruit, veg and perhaps dairy stuff and my fridge is empty at the moment as I have been away for the past 9-10 days.
Still it will keep the food budget low
Hope everyone enjoyed their break and Happy New Year to one and all
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
Evening all.
My outing was lovely, shopping took ten minutes and then I drove across to the east end of the city to look at the statue of Buffalo Bill Cody. In 1891 he brought a whole load of what were called 'Red Indians', horses and elephants to Glasgow as well as Annie Oakley.
After that I visited a friend whose father passed away on Christmas Eve. It was so lovely to be out and about.
Tomorrow is another Bank Holiday in Scotland so my financial doings will have to wait until Friday.0
