As promised, here's the Virginia Sweater.
I've acquired a bit of a spare tyre since I made it but it still looks good under a suit. (All my spare lbs go around my midriff. If I could lose half a stone from there, I'd be laughing. And all my wardrobe would fit.)

That is lovely, is it is it knitted in 4 ply? You’ve just inspired me, I need something warm to wear under a suit in the winter but I struggle to find anything other than a plain white T-shirt. I could knit myself a white or cream sweater, when I thought about it before I imagined a jumper would be too bulky, but in 4 ply it would be just right. I must finish some outstanding projects before I begin anything new though! As I get much more excited about starting something new than I do about finishing the old ones, it might be just the incentive I need to get some things finished off.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. @PipneyJane That is lovely - but how heartbreaking for all your previous work to end up making Mr Cat comfortable...

For something relatively straightforward, you might want to consider The Jan Sweater. It's another Susan Crawford design. And it's in 4-ply.

They are lovely jumpers. How long do they take to make?
I have a friend who almost knits in her sleep and I'm sure it wouldn't take her too long, but as for me.....well, maybe a year or so......😉2025 Fashion on the ration

@MrsCD - yes, me too! I knit cardigans and jumpers but I make them short-sleeved and do 'em in Aran or heavier, on 6mm needles
Although I am about to start doing a 4-ply one soon. I did a slipover last year (the old-fashioned term for a sleeveless pullover worn over a blouse or shirt, what most people nowadays call a tanktop (which is actually more like a modern polo-shirt with the neck and sleeves removed... originally what the soldiers did to their uniform shirts in the North African campaigns to survive the heat inside tanks)) and that was DK striped with two strands of 4-ply held together and didn't take me too many decades to knit, so....2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Really love that Virginia Sweater, Pip - that is pretty. Sympathise about the spare tyre too - isn't it frustrating, when it Just Wont Go?Unfortunately, I cannot justify yet another sweater in my wardrobe, as I can't shut the door as it is (sigh!)I did throw a pair of knickers out yesterday, after they decided to slowly descend as I walked into town.... A good job I was wearing trousers!Sealed Pot Challenge no 035.

Lovely jumpers Pip. I’m like you Laura, I only like knitting with thick wool and large needles so it grows quickly!Stash busting challenge 2025: 0/100 £0/£100 Fashion on the ration 2025: 0/664

I just find knitting boring! Don't mind doing a bit of crochet but only small things. Made matching cardigans for the kids about 40 years ago but that's about the only garments I've ever crocheted. I tend to stick to things like granny squares and sew them together!
Much prefer sewing though and make quite a few of my own clothes although haven't done much recently. My last thing was a sleeveless top which I made the pattern for as well but think it could have done with being a bit bigger as it's a bit skimpy - it just about reaches my waist! Will definitely make my patterns a bit bigger in future!4 -
@CapricornLass - I had THE most vivid memory of a similar situation... again, luckily, under trousers but very loose-fitting trousers so the knicks were still actively rying to descend below hip-level whilst being held up in the middle - indescribably uncomfortable, trying to hoick and hang on, on both hips!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
