    Thanks everyone.

It has been a week since "the incident".  The HA called and I missed it so I called them again and left another message.  Nothing since then.  Things have not escalated but they're still banging around as usual.  Just realised I didn't mention what happened.  Briefly, I accidentally dropped something very heavy on the floor and the guy downstairs came up and verbally abused myself and LMG.  It was actually terrifying.  He's about 5'1" and looks about 14 (I'm 5'6") but he was very aggressive and we felt threatened.  It was horrible.  We're now wary about walking past his door which we need to do anytime we go out.

In the meantime, we are no further forward with anything to do with moving other than bf and I looking at wet wall for the bathroom and me buying a paint roller.  We're planning what we want to do but seem to be stalling on getting started.

Honestly, no, I don't think so.  In my honest opinion I think they're a couple of kids who have had kids really young, not had a chance to be adults so don't know how to act as adults.  I would guess that they've been brought up to think their behaviour is acceptable.  They are very roughly spoken and, well, there's no other way to put it, they are extremely common.  I'm not posh but I know how to behave and how to treat people.

Yesterday my parents very kindly gave me a monetary gift.  It is a decent amount and means I can pay for a lot of the work that needs done in the flat to get it to a saleable condition.

I know that I am extremely lucky and I appreciate that in every way.  I just can't help feeling like a spoiled little rich kid and I am absolutely not that person.  They just want to help us but I feel guilty taking their money.  I don't have much but I have enough and have been working out ways to pay for stuff.

I haven't banked it yet (cheque).

  • I’d be feeling exactly the same... it will make them happy to think they’re helping you get into a better situation though.

    Another month, another payday.

Didn't quite hit the EF target this month.  The MA I used took too long to pull it all together before the end of my old mortgage rate (I knew that would happen, I gave him plenty of notice but he thought it would be easy and left it to the last minute.  Why don't people just do what I ask?) so I had to pay SVR interest this month.  In order to bring the balance down by my usual £10 or so I had to pay £170 instead of £20 ish (new interest dd started but charged for August at old interest rate - it is correct).  Oh well, too late now.  I decided to bite the bullet a bit and get the mortgage to sub £87k so paid over a further £110.  When that hits the account my outstanding mortgage balance will be:

    £86,990.

I managed to put £500 into my EF so that brings it to £2,440.  Not too shabby, however, it's LMG's 21st birthday next month and we have plans that are going to cost a bit.  It was always my intention to shove all my extra cash into the EF then take out what I need for her birthday.  I still have one more payday covering the other role so that will help.

We are seriously getting on with the decorating this weekend.  We have someone coming to view the flat next week.  It's all happened really fast.  LMG and I are planning to buy a house together.  She has no plans to move out (as in away from me) anytime soon, I can't afford somewhere better on just my own salary and neither of us can bear to live here any longer so we have come up with this plan together.  Our whole family are very supportive and think it's a good idea so we are currently looking at houses.  Could be that the two of us end up homeless in a month or so 🙈 No, we won't, my folks have said we can stay with them until we get somewhere, if necessary.
