Possibly. My induction hob beeped if I lifted a pan to tilt and baste the contents, beeped if I placed anything on it for more than a couple of seconds: unpacking shopping etc and a couple of seconds after beeping turned itself off. I was quite pleased to have a gas hob in our new place, though I do miss the speed of induction to heat a pan from cold. There are plenty of look-like-induction electric hobs that have similar-looking "glass" cooking surfaces.

Definitely rely on the official fire report and don't accept any liability beforehand. I hope it's cleared up (in all senses of the phrase) as painlessly as possible for you; must have been a terrible shock.

That could indeed be the case.

People think of electric hobs as having those coiled rings that glow red. Modern ones are flat glass plates that heat up.

I have an AEG induction hob, and my parents have the electric equivalent. The two look almost identical other than theirs glows red when switched on.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

But they are both 'electric,' so the distinction you are trying to draw here is also confusing.
