It's no wonder they stopped selling petrol in gallons.  It would be over £6.50 now.

Today's critical research from One Poll: "Have you ever lost/broken an umbrella?" That's got to be 100% of umbrella users, surely??? Hardly seems worth them doing the research 🤷‍♀️!

Yes, I wondered what that was about.... and the bit about hotels lending them to guests? Why is this a question?!

I think a lot of their survey questions are badly worded and useless as questions. I often think to myself “no, but you are making me say this”. They are often leading questions where they are expecting certain answers.

Survey writing is an art. If the questions have bias, that means a marketing department somewhere has already decided what they want the answers to be. I spent a LOT of time arguing with people about survey questions - they want answers for marketing, I want them for market insights... they are NOT the same thing.

Some surveys seem a bit like asking when did you last beat your wife/your husband last beat you.  With the options being yesterday, in the last week, in the last fortnight (you get the picture) but without the option to say never.  I do wonder sometimes if the person writing them actually turned their brains on first or was doing a copy & paste without checking what they were copying & pasting.

It’s when they have two parts to them that it gets me… assuming you agree with the first part and then asking about the second. For instance ‘When you go to London, do you take the train?’ - what if you don’t go to London but there’s no option to put that? It doesn’t actually give them useful answers!

Is it wrong that when One Poll asked me whether people put Christmas decorations in their bathrooms, the first thing I thought of was newgirly 🤔?
