So it's a year today since I was told I was being made redundant. I was speaking to BF about it the other night, and I genuinely feel like a different person now (and not just because I'm MF 😀). I eat better, I sleep SO much better, I drink LOADS less alcohol, I do a lot more exercise, my memory is better, I spend less money and I've got loads more free time 😀😀😀😀😀
I knew then that I wanted to retire early, but hadn't got any further than that. Now I have a plan with real numbers behind it (despite earning less money), and can think of the things I'll spend my time doing, rather than just "not working". Most of all, I don't have any fear of it happening again (and not just because I'm MF 😀). Like a lot of things, now I've done it once I know I can confidently do it again. Go me 😀!
To all those of you who said that it could turn out to be a blessing in disguise, you were so right 😀😀😀!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!17 -

Great post SC and you should give yourself a massive pat on the back for making it all happen! Total inspiration and cheered me right up after another bad day at work. CM6

Major milestone achieved last night - I bought alcohol (only one of those ready-mixed cans of rum and coke, as I don't trust myself to have a bottle of anything in the house)....but didn't drink it!!! First I was going to drink it while I was watching the news, then I got delayed doing that as I was faffing about with some paperwork, then realised I really needed to get the dinner on, so by the time I thought about it again it was about 9.00pm and I decided I couldn't really be bothered 😀😀😀 I might have it later today - but I might not 😀!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Excellent walk this morning: The sun was shining, I got asked for directions ("Yes I do live here - aren't I lucky?") and a little girl waved and said hello to me 😍😍😍
And I've got my breath back quite quickly on my return - I just might be getting a little bit fitter!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
