Now come on... who doesn't love an old manual!
Just us men then... 😂If it's not adding up, compound it!5 -
You've got some classics there, SC! 😂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!4 -
Your paperwork clear out sounds like mine SC; I shredded a tenancy agreement from 2004. I didn't even look at the instruction manuals! I filled 3 of those big charity bags with paper, and that was just the stuff that needed shredding rather than just recycling!
Feels good though, doesn't it?Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

The calendar on my phone has me checking out of two hotels today and I haven't been to either of them 😢!£6.35 in from Prolific. Savings for OP now £19.05Decided that a) as I'll be at home to accept deliveries and not reliant on grumpy neighbours/nosy colleagues; and b) there's not much else to spend money on, I would top up some up of the seeds and dried fruit I put in my milkshakes. Ordered 1kg of sunflower seeds and 2kg of dried cranberries. The equivalent quantity (in loads of tiny bags) would have been £26.00 at Asda and £40.66 at Sainsbury's 😱 Total cost from eBay £19.97 😀 plus 15 Nectar points (none earned on postage) and should be 15p in TCB 😀😀 That's my kind of savings!Called my Mum to wish her happy Mother's Day, have done some bits around the house (including 10 minutes wrestling paper back out of the shredder with a pair of pliers) and ventured as far as the bins. Doing some work is going to be a shock to the system tomorrow, as I have got quite used to doing....nothing.Now to embark on the clutter....Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

HI South Coast - I've kept every passport as far as I know - and why not it is good memorabilia. I have payslips from my first ever job in the 80s. We have a long way to go before we could ever be remotely decluttered! We are both in jobs where we can do at least some work from home - so not even got to decluttering much yet.... At least we have plenty of stuff to 'shop from home'. I just wrapped about 18 things for MIL without having to go shopping...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Feeling very lazy today. Have talked myself out of cooking what I'd intended for tonight's dinner as it would require too much effort and instead have read a couple of chapters of my very interesting new book:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Waste-Makers-Publishing-Vance-Packard/dp/1935439375/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=waste+makers&qid=1584887107&sr=8-1 It was written in 1960, but is still eye-opening today 😯!Thought I was feeling too idle to do any de-cluttering and instead had focused on the very important job of Identifying Problem Areas, but did manage to give a couple of places a quick going over. Some items of note:* A bent nail* A used rawl plug* LOADS of leads for various things (I am always telling BF off for keeping leads which he has no idea what they are for - whoops!)* Numerous spare buttons for clothes I don't even recognise* A duvet set I bought in the BHS closing-down sale and set aside for when my bedroom is done up. No idea why, as it does NOT suit the grown-up and sophisticated look I will be going for. Still in the packaging, with £15.99 price tag attached 😢* A shot glass, which interestingly made it through the great-shot-glass-clearout of a few months agoThat will do for today, think I will put the telly on and savour it being the last day of my "holiday" (may also savour a glass of wine too 😀)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Do keep all your P60s & check that the details on the P60 for the year you had the P45 is correct. There have been some records that were not correct which could affect your retirement income!

Good advice, I did keep the P60's as I had some lingering idea that I might need them - although it went against all my instincts!
Phew! This working from home lark is exhausting! Think I spent more hours speaking to my colleagues today than I would have done if I had been in the office - kicking off with an 8.30am conference call that I wasn't aware of as I haven't been reading my emails - with video 😱! At least text to warn me so I can make sure I'm properly dressed! Will be better prepared tomorrow....
Not left the house apart from to put rubbish out since Saturday morning and not yet gone mad (although the man outside with a strimmer all day today did take me close). Feel like this would normally be the subject of some Channel 4 documentary: "How long can an intelligent 30-something stay inside a 1-bed flat and not interact in person with another human being without embarking on a mad axe-wielding rampage?" Disclaimer: I don't own an axe, but you get the idea. May look to rent the place out to a production company once this is all over 😂Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
