    Exciting times!
Sounds like a good achievable plan.
As I don't have your timeframe I'm not OP as much as I could, but investing it now for the longest impact.
If it's not adding up, compound it!

Thanks all! I'm definitely hoping for some "retirement creep" too Staffordia, either in bringing dates forward or values up - hopefully both 🤣! It also shows how much better this job is for me than the last one, as I can actually contemplate staying there long term to fund all this, whereas the plan in my old job was to stay until the refurb was done and then get out quick before I turned into a quivering wreck 😮

So sensible of you working out what kind of income you want and how to get there. I’ll be starting to consider that soon!

There's no shame in keeping your numbers to yourself. A lot of people do when it comes to FIRE, I think sometimes it's for practical reasons (for example not actually having an exact number because you're at the start of your journey) and sometimes because it's a very personal thing. Have you looked up Lean FIRE?

I have a vague number that I come up with when I first started investing, it's probably wildly outdated but until I get close there's no point in re-working it.

Also your free money is incredible. Well done!

Not long to go for you caeler, best get your thinking cap on!

It's the opposite of Fat FIRE, much of the writing on FIRE tends to be about Fat FIRE which is what puts a lot of people off, it's all massive multi-million pensions, whereas Lean is about making the best from a smaller pot.

I definitely like the idea of that 👍!

Not sure this writer has quite bought into the idea though 🤣🤣🤣!

Yep 🤣! Of course I do live in a small flat and don't have kids, but those decisions were nothing to do with money - more that I don't want to look after anyone else and have no desire to maintain a garden or clean surplus rooms!

Sorry but that writer wrote a load of twaddle (polite version).  Unless you are foolish enough to think your children are going to keep you in old age, then you know that it is NOT having them that leads to a more affluent retirement not a lean one.  I suspect the writer must be American.  As for living in a city, if you haven't seen anything important by the time you retire you've been wasting your life.  Having lived near London in my 30s & 40s, frankly enough is enough.  I certainly wouldn't have wanted to live there in my 60s & 70s.  Visiting is fine but living there!  No thanks.
