Great news about the new job!3

Congrats on the job. I started this week and am shattered - I could do the old one without much effort. This one is using my brain!3

Right, slight change of plan....
Started getting pain in my leg, which within about 12 hours then swelled up and started to go purple. Turns out I have a blood clot in my leg, a couple of small bits of which have travelled up to my lungs. So tablets, leg elevation, leg exercises and a referral to find out what's caused it is my "new normal"; and no new job on Monday (new job is 45 miles away and I'm struggling to walk at the moment, so driving is definitely off the cards. I know the person I'll be working for, and they're taking me on to do a specific task, so they're keeping it open for me and no panic there). It should take 1-2 weeks for the swelling and pain to go (hopefully!) Just absolutely terrible timing now that I finally have something to do with my time 🙄
Not sure I've quite got my head round it yet. I'm that annoying person who is never ill and doesn't even pick up office bugs, plus I'm only in pain in my leg (although I did have a few episodes of chest pain for a couple of days at a time over the last two weeks - whoops). It's the first time I've been to the hospital here since I moved here nearly 14 years ago, so it feels a bit 0-60mph and I could have done with something a bit milder to ease me in to illness I think! Could have been a LOT worse though, so very grateful for that and that I haven't had to stay in.
Meanwhile, the work dresses I ordered the other day continue to arrive - all £850-worth 😮 (I wasn't sure what size I'd be, so ordered two of everything to try on. Basket initially started at a bit over £1k before I decided that was ridiculous and edited it down!) I have 28 days to return them, so should be fine for a trying on session by then and fortunately I had the foresight to pay on the 0% card which is only set up to collect the minimum payment, rather than the card I use for everything else and takes payment in full each month 😮😮😮!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Bummer! 😟 Has BF got a butler uniform?
Sounds like some TLC needed, so take the time you need.
If it's not adding up, compound it!5 -
I'm so sorry to hear about your clot, will you need to have more investigations?
Congrats on the job even if you can't start yet.4 -
Oh gosh SC, that’s not good at all! Make sure you get plenty of rest and I hope the pain subsides soon. Take care!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Crikey, that's all very dramatic!!
sounds like it's come as rather a shock, unsurprisingly. What poor timing as well with the new job, pleased they're holding it open for you though. Fingers crossed you're feeling better soon xx

Thanks all. Definitely a bolt out of the blue, I think my days of £5 travel insurance for a week in the Med are well and truly behind me! On the plus side, BF has agreed to get my food shopping from Lidl tomorrow (I was nervous of a return to his enthusiastic shopping for me in Sainsbury's during lockdown), so I must be cutting a pretty sorry figure. I do seem to be walking better though after an evening of increased leg activity.
Moral of the story: Never ignore chest pain (or *ahem* coughing up blood. Even if it's only once and a tiny amount). But I'm sure you sensible lot all knew that already....Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
