Help Sim card stuck Motorola G8 Plus
Options
I have just purchased the above phone. When setting it up it was pretty finicky to get the Sim card and an SD card to stay in place so I just put the Sim card in using the little tray slot
This morning I attempted to put the Sim card in. I was able to retrive the Sim card and tray. Each time I was trying to put them back in they kept falling through the little tray. In the end the sim card went in. It is saying no Sim and the sim can not be retrived using the little tray or by shaking it to try and get the Sim to fall out. Does anyone have any ideas ? I am in a panic now so HELP Sue

borrow another nano Sim card and try that. If it recognises it then you need to call into the mobile shop and get a replacement Sim with a PAYGO Sim. Then do a swap number by text
PS.. are you sure the sim didn't fallout on the floor?

No there is no sign of it . It is inside the phone without a doubt. I spoke to Motorola and they told me to contact Amazon and ask for a replacement. I have done so but the problem now is that the phone is back to £239 or £235? What the chap who spoke to me is doing is giving me a refund for what I paid plus a voucher for £48
It is showing on their web site that there are 8 in stock but Prime Delivery would be Friday. The person I spoke to said he can't access that and the best date he could give would be 28th Jan. So a month.
As you know I purchased it on 17th and received on 19th Dec If I was to try and put the tray in it won't go due to the sim being in there.0 -
try another SIM in the tray ??
any nano SIM !!
if that works get a another SIM from your mobile operator
Thats the simple solution0 -
so the card is stuck in the slot without the tray. I've seen that happen a few times.
There are two approaches to removing it.
The first one (easiest) is to hold the phone in your hand (very tightly!) with the top of the phone with the empty tray hole facing upwards and flick the phone downward towards the floor sharply with a flick of the wrist. Try it somewhere you'll see the card if/when it flies out.
watch not to loose go of the phone or hit it on any furniture.....
You might need to do it a few times.0 -
Thanks for that but no joy. Motorola advised me to contact Amazon and ask for a replacement.
The cost is back to £239 but they have given me a credit so have been able to get it for the £191 I previously paid. Should have it Friday.

you are still going to have to replace the SIM card as mentioned in post 40

I have already asked for a new SIM from Plusnet I am on a rolling month contract. They are sending me a replacement card. I checked that it would be the same deal as I am on. 3 GB Unlimited minutes and texts for £6 a month.
For now I don't have a phone Amazon say Friday. The current phone came from Dunfermline in Scotland .Public holiday 1 St and 2 nd January
Plusnet say Thursday for the SIM.
Reading through possible ways to retrieve a SIM this seems not to be one isolated incident. There are other hints or solution by several people but I was scared to try any of them.
Thanks again Sue0 -
If you got tweezers you could try that0

The new phone arrived yesterday and I have got the SIM and the SD card in position. They are in and I won't be taking them out so all good now. Thanks for all the advice but with the phone new on the 19th December I didn't want to take any risks with it. Sue0
