it's funny how the same mindset can be both good and bad for you. DS2 wanted some Krispy Kreme as I was going into the nearby big town - so I downloaded the app got myself £1.50 off a box of 12 (although it was in fact MSE for him as he was paying) but as I was new to the app I also got a free donut that I had to eat there and then to protect from the risk of seagulls (even inland they can be a problem)- so MSE 10/10 - Healthy Eating 0/10. To compensate I did walk a couple of bus stops extra so already at 6000 todayI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

that's very profound FH - I'm sure there must be a reason why but I just can't think of why people might want to make money out of addiction, empty consumption, and ignorance. Well as the song goes 2 out of 3 ain't bad

Still surviving. I have sacrificed one of my EF regular savings pots, as it was just too tight, so that will give me some slack for this month until OH gets her increased pay. Plus needed to make a down payment on a few days away over the summerI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

It was good that you had the EF in place to sacrifice. You will build it back so all good.If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Dinner for one with the Colonel tonight as I am working away. Economy as the hotel is £25 a main course and that's my expenses limit on one plate.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

SH - I did. Bucket for 1 - half for supper and half for lunch, with gravy and sweetcorn for supper - luckily the hotel was posh enough to have a mini bar so I could use the fridge to chill the left overs
In other news I have a little relapse in financial promiscuity terms - in that I saw from MSE weekly email that there were a lot of 0% fee 0% balance transfer cards so I went for it (now to be known as CC4) as that allows me to repay my balance slightly more comfortably until September when I can adjust my work salary sacrifice and/or my OH salary increase is enough). So a few things contributed to this, DD2 needing some (apparently short term) cash-flow help as she moves flat, my own lazy tax in not claiming for some stuff at work, plus just a little bit of good old fashioned over spending, and finally just the lure of easy availability. I think this is the diet equivalent of putting a few kilos back on after being good.
So I will wait until that all goes through and will aim to have it cleared by end of the year as I quite like my DF milestones. Its 2 years since I was last overdrawn. But I sense the CC may more of a longer term temptation.
Anyway - just keeping myself accountable, but nothing to worry (that much) about - just a bit slack really and need to give myself a good talking toI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

It's so tempting isn't it. I got a zero percent spending card for 22 months that also gives me points and another than gives me points - but I do think I'd spend less if I just used an ordinary bank card even though I try to clear it immediately I spend.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
