I went to a cafe in S0H0, where the choice was Maxwell House  or Barley Cup.. . .  Life is too short for that nonsense.
Barley cup! Hasn't it been outlawed on grounds of being a noxious toxic brew designed to make everyone heave?!  If I may make so bold....I hope you made your excuses and left @f0xh0les? Love Humdinger xx

  • Mark, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.
I saw your wrist slap on the other diary and both of you dealt with it really fairly.
I never know where to separate politics and healthcare as I'm not educated enough in politics to apportion blame, but the system is broken completely and I'm sorry that the NHS failed your friend.

thank you - I think my point is that the NHS often takes the blame when the problem is structural and political who get away without any blame when IMHO the system is broken because of a very real policy of undermining it.  but what do I know

well unsurprisingly my numbers for May are terrible - a see of red on the budget and a (0% / interest free) balance on CC3 that I am not going to clear this month.  Partly inattention, partly as we have been away a couple of times (and entertained ourselves too well) and partly because I never really got back into a day to day balance after the costs of my refurbishments splashed themselves all over my spreadsheets.

I think a lot of people are letting their hair down a little, hopefully you have been able to enjoy the spring and general relaxation of tension.  for me I overdid it a bit, and will try and be a little less f.eckless going forward,

I am sticking the maximum allowed by my bank into regular savings for EF purposes and I think that maybe too much so now I have a healthier balance I will slow down that flow and get back to a balanced budget.  I also possibly overcommitted to my monthly pension contribution which I can't change until October.  So although its all welcome and the tax relief more so it is leaving things a little tight.  £500 of insurances coming up for renewal will not help in June but after that.

In other news my OH has picked up some extra responsibilities and extra money at her work, so that will start filtering in at the end of the month - a welcome few hundred that will help keep things balanced

my steps and weight are OK, not brilliant but not terrible - so whilst both are not as good as they could be.  they will do.  and that's fine.  My friend's funeral is next week so that will be taxing, but its not too far away and so although a longish drive is only a day trip and I should be able to share the cost

so Steps will top 1,000,000 since 1 Jan steps this weekend.  So a bit behind schedule for 3,000,000 this year.  but I will keep trying still under 10,000 a day on average and that's got to be doable
