Question please?
I’m going to try and track my spending this month using physical money rather than plastic.
Is it possible to ask my bank to give me £100 in coins? £1’s when I do.
Cheers.

Possible to ask......impossible to say if they will.
Not sure why it needs to be £1 coins for you to track your spending tbh.0 -
X to last till the end of the month divided by how many days left spare cash till payday.
It’s about £4.60 a day.
If I have any over it goes into the next days bag. If I spend a tenner I see I have to make lunch etc tomorrow.
It’s about seeing a physical amount rather than just going beep to MasterCard and thinking where’s it all gone next month.0 -
What about getting your money out a cash point and going into a Noble/ Admiral amusements or something along them lines and using the change Machines.0

Not a bad shout at all.0

Banks might think you are trying to pull a fast one - using the money for business purposes not personal - just use a fiver a day and keep recycling the change.0

Ten quid in coins for the kid's lunches or the parking meter is a reasonable request, a hundred quid in coins sounds a lot like undertaking business activity on a personal account. Expect your bank to be a bit funny with you if you make the request.
I understand the benefit of using cash in making your spending more transparent, but why not just take the money is small denomination notes and get coins in change when you spend?: )0 -
Would it not be easier to open a second current account, transferring your monthly allowance there on pay day and using a debit card for that account for your day to day expenses?0

at £4.60 a day you'll over spend your £100, it's more like £3.30 a day.0 -
got a bit more than £100
Ballard, I do this now with a debit card to but its still too easy to just tap it.0 -
I just used to take a fixed amount out each week, but after a few weeks I would take out less as I still had money in my purse.
When the weekly amount was gone, that was it.
It does make you think before buying things.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0
