New Build - Blocked Drain (we told Persimmon 5 months ago)

Just get a drain company round to rod and jet it.
If it can be proven that it is a build problem send the bill to Persimmon to pay. If not stop flushing stuff down the loo that shouldn't be going in there.
You are a homeowner now and have to take some responsibility for your own home.0 -
all of these people suggesting rodding the drains - this is unlikely to be the solution - as its a new build its more likely that the installation has not been done properly or there is some rubble or other items stuck in the pipes preventing proper flow. as you complained at the outset, i would be writing to them indicating that you will give them 7 days to come and investigate and to come up with a plan for fixing it otherwise you will engage a third party to do that and sue them for the costs. You could remind them that any court proceedings are public and that you are sure that the local and regional press would be interested that legal action has been taken.0

We live in a new build and the four houses on our drainage run had a blockage not long after we moved in.
In our case the developers did get someone out to clear the drain run. The cause was a mixture of building debris and people flushing wipes which should not go down the toilet.
The developers paid for this clearance but did state that they would not do so again if the blockage was due to wipes or similar.
Presumably in the OPs case they are the only property suffering from this blockage as it is unlikely most people would leave a blockage for five months!
Most people would get it fixed for what little a drain cleaning call out costs!0 -
Get your own rods, they're not expensive!0

Because it's Persimmon's responsibility given we told them within our first month of moving in..
Hang on, let me get this straight. You would rather put up with the hassle and stench of blocked toilets for 5 months rather than use your initiative and get someone to rod the drains? Phew.
If it is a simple case of builders debris, once you shove a rod up there, the decent head of water will probably force it into the main sewer.0 -
This is known as cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Try kicking up a stink, but also weigh up whether it’d be better just to fix it.0 -
I would have paid to rod it and then send the bill to Persimmon making a claim against them in small claims if they didn't pay up.0
