Barclays account - money appeared in account

Hi, I have barclays account. A few weeks ago on a Saturday I checked my account and I had an extra 1000 in my account. I thought this was a payment I was waiting for and just wasn't showing as a Saturday. I paid a number of bills with it. I checked my account later and it was in a negative balance. It looks like payments a week before were removed and then processed again on this Saturday afternoon? I had to borrow money off my parents to restore my balance. Is it worth complaining? Could I get compensation?

You should have checked it wasmoney you were expecting.
They paid this in error then took it back.

I read this several times and don't understand what you are saying. It would be helpful if you could detail the days and credit / debit amounts involved

What would you be complaining about? Were you charged for going overdrawn? If so, by how much were you overdrawn, for how long, and how much were you charged? How much compo would you want?

Sorry no compo, you should have checked. No harm in putting a claim in but it really is up to you to check if your unsure about a credit.

Well I do have some sympathy - if I was expecting £1,000 credit and £1000 appeared in my account I wouldn't go calling the bank double checking that it was the one I was expecting...

that said, if the credit was reversed what happened to the one the OP was expecting!

Neither would I - - - but then, what are the odds that you'd expect to receive an amount and then receive exactly that amount by mistake, and have it taken away on the same weekend it arrived by mistake? Followed by the apparent complete failure of the expected amount to make an appearance?

I suspect it all has got to do with the missing £ sign.

Seems a lot of BS posters (if it is more than one person) have no £ on their keyboard.

I have access to some software that can analyse written text for patterns, grammar, style etc and many of these troll posts show up as 85% likely to be from the same person.

The software is called Forensic Analysis Research Tool - FART for short.

Banks should not debit an account without the account holders authority so you should complain.

Generalising, as you have done, the Santander current account T&Cs state otherwise. See conditions 7.4 b) (i) and 7.4 c)

I'm sure Barclays will have similar conditions.
