Very impressed with the Ecoeggs for laundry, work well and smell good. Spent yesterday decluttering the kitchen cupboards, 5 boxes to tip and charity.
Starting to hate the amount I send to landfill, must be an age thing, I’m vowing to not buy anything I don’t NEED any more.
DV fund is fininshed:T holiday and hall decorating funds now started.2 -
January is already nearly gone.....I’ve started decluttering the house, several tip runs. Grocery shopping has been better, £230 spent this month.
DDs wheelchair has fallen apart after 2 years of hard use. After researching online, I happily settled on a £160 replacement. Today I popped into a local charity shop and an almost new, all bells and whistles one was sitting there - the best £40 I’ve ever spent. It’s hardly used, and would have been nearly £1000 new.
A bitter sweet day however, as DD has decided she wants to go ahead with a life changing operation that the drs have been pushing for. I’m dreading it, but as it’s her decision I’m trying to be upbeat. one day at a time....2 -
Hugs. It sounds tough. Hope the operation goes well. Great news on the wheelchair price. You sound like you are doing well in difficult circumstances.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Thank you both. I’ve got my head around the operation, whilst daunting, totally happy as DD’s choice. Said daughter has spent the night throwing up, managed to get every duvet and carpet going. I’ve been washing since 4am and my lovely brother has bought me a flash carpet cleaner. The house smells of damp wool, the dirty water from the carpets was satisfying and horrifying in equal measure.3

Thanks savingholmes.....I have spurts of focusing on finances and getting organised. Finances are taking a hammering at the moment. I’ve managed to spend over £500 on groceries already this month, more than double my usual bill. To be fair, I had run everything down to the bone, and now have some reserves. We’ve been on self- isolation for 7 days, the kids have ploughed through the food cupboards and are stir crazy. Wine and chocolate has made up a fair portion of the bill!
On the positive side, I’ve seriously de cluttered the house, painted my bedroom, cleared out the loft and shed and sold 2 bikes on eBay. If we’re in isolation for another couple of months, I might be able to get the house organised.3 -
Well done on selling the bikes. I'm tempted to sell mine too. I hadn't thought of still doing that right now but it makes sense.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I also have a 4 story wooden climbing frame to get rid of, Savingholmes, probably a good time to sell with bored children off school. I’m just dreading the dismantling and trying to get it out of the garden! I shall have to look up how to use the pressure washer.
