Deterrent for Ants in my LPG tank fill up area.

Hi, i have a underground LPG tank & i am looking for a deterrent for ants in my LPG tank fill up area. This area is like a drain cover that protects the meter & fill up valve & is about 24" round & 12" deep. I have tried a couple of ant powders & found them useless. If leave it to long they can take over half this area & end up with my potting trowel & a hoover to clean it out. Any other suggestions besides a flamethrower. Thanks

nip down to your local cash and carry and get the largest bag of chilli powder you can, sprinkle the area regularly0
