Mould in bedrooms of bungalow

Hi

We have mould along one outside wall, affecting 2 bedrooms and a study/computer room.
1930's build, its the end wall and we have mould showing along the bottom in our bedroom from behind furniture etc
2nd bedroom also being affected, back room iis showing damp around the window.
We have had new gutters put in, waiting for dry weather to repair any holes in pebbledash outside with cement and to paint outside wall with special paint but in all this rain thats not proving easy.

We have double glazed windows, and regularly have them open. Dont dry washing in them either.

What would our next step be ? I know there is paint for the walls but that does not address where the damp is coming from and what is causing it..

TIA

Cement and special paint sound bad, houses need to breath. Cement content in peddledash should be low to nil. If done wrong it is likely to cause.
  • what would you advise then?

Can you post pictures? Affected areas, entire walls, inside and out. Please.

    "Special paint" doesn't really exist.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • will do tomorrow, one is round a window, one is from the bottom of walls and behind chest of drawers, beds etc.

The paint was advised by a handy man who came round

!930s would be around the time cement based pebbledash started being used - I've got it covering the top half of my house. Filling in the cracks is about the easiest thing the OP can do. The walls should be cavity, so moisture shouldn't track through to the inner wall (leaf).

OP - What sort of temperature are you keeping the rooms heated to ?

I agree about the italicised 'should,' but a few houses where I used to live were built with solid walls up to the 1950s.
  • We apparently have cavities but they couldn't do cavity wall filling as made of the wrong material?

The bedrooms I think range around 20/21 with the heating on.

Any idea what the humidity is like in them rooms, could be condensation if its on a outside wall you need a Hygrometer there cheap to buy around £5-£10. The outside shouldn't be allowing water to penetrate to the inner wall through cavity. Might be worth also checking gutters as well. If humidity is high I recommend a dehumidifier

I rarely get above 60% in my house the humidity. My house was built in late 20s and has solid walls with rendering on outside but its well maintained

We live in Cornwall and experience mould on any wall that has furniture in front of it. We even have a dehumidifier in the master bedroom but that still doesn't prevent it. Ours is a 1970' s Bungalow with a 2010 extension.
  • Nickcc, sounds like our house, well all down one side anyway...
