Offices are closed till Monday!
I made a claim for universal credit after being signed off sick (suspected leukemia) on Dec 9th. I've been Self employed since Feb 18. Never clamied any benefits so it was all new to me and i dont understand it all fully.
Had appointment on 16th December, all went fine, took all the paperwork i was asked to take and was told I didn't need to do anything apart from get another sick note in Jan when this one expires.
Had no emails to do anything in my journal since, logged in today for no reason in particular to find my claim was closed on Xmas eve and no reason given.
Extremely confused!!
This is the log.

Did you accept a claimant commitment?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0

I'm by sure by that bit, I had to download and read a document but their was nothing "to do"0

I was told to just get another sick note before 9th Jan when current expires, the only log on my journal was 40 mins after my meeting which was a document to download. Their is nothing to action0

Accepting the claimant commitment involves reading the page where it states your commitments, and clicking the button at the bottom to say you accept (I can't remember what exactly it's labelled). It would then come up as an entry on your journal to say you'd accepted the claimant committment.
Edit: my journal entry for that reads:
"25 Sep 2019 at 5:11pm Accept your commitments completed"
Edit 2: Did you have a commitments meeting? That's when you discuss the claimant commitment, then you have seven days in which to accept them online.
Looking at the timings of the entries youv posted, I am very confused too. It looks like the March appointment was cancelled before anything else popped up :huh:0 -
Thanks for advice. I cannot see my to do list now. As far as I was concerned I'd done everything I needed to. When I had my appointment i was basically told I didn't need to do anything else as I was signed off sick.
I did get a notification straight after my meeting which I went through and completed as far as I know. Guess I will have to wait till Monday, but whatever is said do you have to start a new application?0 -
The closure actions tells you to do things in a certain way, that's why it reads like that.
I would say you hadn't accepted your commitments within the 7 day deadline and your claim was closed, as the log you have put matches what would show when a claim is closed for this reason.
Not sure why they didn't send you a reminder a give you a few extra days though, but each office does there own thing with closures.0 -
I will bw ringing them monday, Do i have to start again or can they reopen it?
I was getting emails when I needed to do things, I've not heard a thing since 16th Dec when I had an appointment. I was basically told to get my new sick note online when I get it and if I needed to do anything else they would get in touch.0 -
In the claim closed journal entry it normally states reason for claim closure.
Suggest that you log in and there should be a button to make a new claim. This should then start process of getting the claim up and running again. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -

Above in bold is the list of todo's that were outstanding in your todo list when your claim was closed. Your claim was closed because you failed to accept your commitments within 7 days. A bit harsh perhaps, as most Work Coaches / Case Managers will give you a reminder on your journal before closing the claim.
Anyway, your claim is closed so you will need to make another claim. You will need to book another First Commitments appointment and attend it, and you will need to accept your commitments (by completing the todo in your todo list) agreed at that meeting. Any advances you may have taken will be passed to debt recovery.
As a general point, it is really important to complete the todo's in your todo list. There are consequences if you don't, such as your claim being closed, or not receiving your payment on time or being paid the incorrect amount of money. This should have been explained to you at your meeting.0 -
I didn't accept my commitments once before and my claim was closed. I called and it was put through as a new claim(I think) but I think the guy pretty much said are all details the same and did it within a minute. Then I asked if I could get the advance due to it being the first payment and that was in my bank within the hour.0
