Well actually it was just under but I cannot find the receipt and it was 12 euros something so round up
We had a bad storm here over the last few days. Apparently some supermarkets were low on fresh produce but I had no issues this morning. Needed more breakfast items and bread for later.
€75.83 left

With this in mind, does anyone know i I can swap out refried beans by mashing up a tin of (eg) cannelini beans and using that instead? It's to go in a chilli (highly rated online recipe)0 -

Yes you can. Done it myself - in fact, enjoyed it so much I often now add cheap baked beans (which are of course, cannelini beans in tomato sauce) to pad out my chilli (along with red lentils)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Yes. I just add cans of kidney beans and mash them slightly.
If you really want refried beans, this is my refried beans recipe:-
3 Cloves Garlic, crushed
1 onion, chopped (optional)
2 x 400g cans Kidney Beans (or Pinto beans or Cannelini)
1 beef stock cube
1 teaspoon ground chilli
1 tablespoon oil
Method- Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan. Fry the onions (if using) until glassy then add the garlic and fry until it starts to catch.
- Stir through the ground chilli. Fry until the aroma rises (this takes seconds).
- Pour in your cans of beans and crumble the stock cube over the top. Stir well.
- Bring to the boil, then turn down and simmer until almost all the liquid has evaporated. Stir occasionally.
- Crush with a potato masher.

Evening All.
Apologies, but I’m really shattered, so this post may not make much sense. Also, I can’t remember what I’ve declared and what I haven’t.
I have two spends to declare from the start of last week. £6.36 in MrT’s and £21.77 in L!dl. The latter was mainly gin (£15-ish), which was purchased in order to take advantage of a “Spend £25, get £5 off” voucher. We had run out of gin, so it wasn’t a complete extravagance, but if it’s anything like the last bottle, it’ll take me 2 years to drink it. (DH doesn’t like gin but, after a really bad day at work, he’ll present me with a G&T as I walk in the door.)
Anyway, our total for January now stands at £115.98/£132.20, leaving £16.22 in the purse. I’m certain I’ve missed a spend - or someone’s borrowed from the GC purse - because I don’t remember £16 in there.
