  • Big finance discussion with my husband this morning, the first one since I told him he had to stop spending money as he was doing a good job of making us bankrupt! Well he listened and we have gradually improved our financial situation over the years so we have savings. We decided to pay £5,000 off the mortgage as interest rates are awful so today the overpayment stands at £5333.30 from an initial goal of £630.70. Thanks to this thread and reading another one about discussing finances with your partner we have paid off over 4% of the mortgage. We are now discussing our pension provision so again a massive thank you. I will continue to overpay what we can.
    5333.30/630.70
    4.23% off initial outstanding balance.
  • 1% would be £961.17
    June £10 paid - £951.17
    July £25- £926.17
    August £100 , £826.17

Another fairy sizeable overpayment for us, £676.24, we have decided to stop saving so absolutely every penny left in the current account at month end being thrown at the mortgage, was a quiet month money wise so I don’t expect this amount very often.
    £6009.54 paid /4.76%.

Smaller over payments for my second 1% of the year but I do have another £420 banked.  Initially ear marked for a new mobile but I simply cannot justify the spend, so will keep the old phone going for a while longer yet.
