How often are you using hot water? - only on for twice a day for 2 hours
What is your hot water system setup? - it is stored in a tank
How often do you have your radiators on for? - only a few hours per day as we have a log burner in the lounge
What setting do you have your radiators on? pretty low 2/3
How long do you have them on? only a few hours per day
is there a chance the meter is faulty - it races round when the boiler kicks in and when i switch the boiler off it seems to speed up for a few seconds at the end before it stops?

Well one i would be checking/changing is away from npower.....have you done comparison yet because i bet you can get it way cheaper

Plus i presume you have TRV valves fitted and set on number 3/med,hallway thermastat set to 19-21 ish and boiler thermostat set to about 60

You say your reading meter every day but are your bills showing customer readings or estimated, just because you enter them on npower website doesn't mean they will show on account

edb1 - could you post the readings from your bills please - the meter readings in m3 and the corresponding figures from the bills in kWh please. Include the letters A, E or C against the readings.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Hi, these are all my actual readings....

    electricty (kwh) gas (m3)
    09/10/2019 32695 58189
    30/11/2019 33845 58867
    21/12/2019 34260 59167
    22/12/2019 34281 59178
    23/12/2019 34296 59187
    24/12/2019 34310 59193

the detail on my gas bill is as follows
start meter reading 9th October 58189
    actual reading 30th November 58867
    therefore 678 used in period = 7569 KWh @ 3.493p = £264.39
plus the standing charge and VAT gets to £291.76 used in that period

electricity bill is start meter reading 9th October 32695
actual meter reading 33845, therefore used 1150KWh at 16.883p - £194.15 + VAT and standing charge gets to £216.14.

Therefore gas and electricity used between 9th October and 30th November is £507.90 which seems crazily high to me?

Hi yes i have done a comparison but this does not explain the difference i do not think...reckons i can save about £100, although on an annual estimate by nPower of 13,844Wh of electricity and 40,930KWh this is not that much?

Am i reading that right 40,930kwh gas and 13,844kwh electric:eek:

Are you growing any exotic plants in your loft
  • As a comparison my
gas is 2.500p per kWh standing charge 22.050p per day

elec is 11.660p per kWh standing charge 15.500 per day

    Both sets include vat

From post #1 - Having monitored it for a few weeks i a using on average 145 Kwh of gas per day and about 20Kwh of electricity per day

gives 7,300 elec not 13,844 kWh. 7,300 is still high
and it is wrong to assume gas winter use of 145 kWh continues the year around - 20kWh will be realistic for the summer months giving 20,000 for the year (again still high)
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
