hello all,
My front passenger window of my car was smashed today. I have reported to the police.
should I go through my insurance to have the side window repaired, or through my car insurance?

Will your home insurance cover it? I wouldn't have thought so.0

Your insurance or your car insurance?
Assuming the miscreant who did it doesn't come forward and pay for it (a reasonable assumption) your options are to pay for it yourself or to claim from your car insurance. No other sort of insurance is going to cover it.0 -
yes i think there is only two options, but my questions is what would be better for meTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0

Anyway, the only way to know what to do is to get a quote for the private repair, then do some dummy renewal quotes to see how a claim might affect future premiums. If the rise is minimal and when added to your excess, is similar or cheaper than the private repair, you have your answer.0 -
Check your (car) insurance policy. Window claims probably don't affect your no claims discount. From personal experience, the effect on next year's premiums is also negligible.
Again, check to see if your insurers use a specific car window company, or allow you to go anywhere.
In the past, I have always gone the insurance route. Why pay for insurance then never use it?If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Then why not say that.
How much is your excess as that could decide if you go via your insurer or not.0 -

I thought that woud apply to windscreens rather than what sounds like an attempted break in or theft.
Even if it was self paid then in theory it should be reported though.0
