Ignoring an alternative approach

Ok I'm starting to pontificate a bit but I seriously think we should avoid using the word "ignore" completely.
I don't know why but as soon as a Newbie to the world of parking sees it they seem to follow it blindly. We say "ignore debt collectors" so they ignore an NTK as we said "ignore".
We say "ignore debt collectors" and they ignore court papers as we said "ignore".
I really think we are underestimating the power of human stupidity.
Can we stop using the word please? I realise this is a bit of locking the stable door but we need to set a tone. Late I know but we deal with the clueless.

I can't think what else to say about debt collector trash, though!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My view on debt collectors letters is to reply to the first letter and dispute the debt. Tell them that any further correspondence will be futile and refer them back to the PPC. They will still send letters but at least you have set out your stall.

Add a GDPR data rectification notice to a debt collector in respects to a private parking charge, as there is technically no debtFrom the Plain Language Commission:

Whilst a bit of a faff this sounds like a sensible approach. Perhaps we could use disregard as an alternative word?
Let's not forget half of Newbies can't even manage to find the Newbies thread without assistance. Even then when they do they claim the template doesn't fit their circumstances. :wall:0 -
Maybe this: -If you receive a letter from a debt collector* keep it in a safe place (to be used for evidence of unreasonable behaviour) but take no action unless and until you receive a LoC/LBA/LBCCC or real court claim form, when you refer back to the NEWBIE sticky post # 2 to see what action to take.
*Debt Collector Letters can be distinguished from LoC/LBA/LBCCC because they threaten, intimidate and fail to give 30 days for payment or action.0 -
I agree with Snakes Belly. If people are stupid enough to conflate letters from debt collectors with letters from courts they deserve what they get imo.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

The word disregard followed by people reading the above explanation by Lekirk seems a good alternative approach , that way if you see the word ignore being used you know the OP hasn't grasped the differences or meanings , or is using 10 year old data and advice as happened in one dcbl thread this week
Ignoring court papers is a fools errand0 -

You mean the British people voted against having a government led by a man who was a friend to terror groups , helped anti semites ruin a great party and would have bankrupted britain0 -
How about a couple of cut & paste responses for all the straightforward cases - one for those who have received PCNs, another for those at the debt collector stage? The first emphasising 'do not ignore', the second stating that they should ignore letters until or unless they receive a LBC? Could also briefly signpost the Newbies' thread.
Not suggesting that this replaces specific advice & encouragement, just that it prefaces it. Seeing exactly the same words on many posts might turn the lights on! This almost happens already but the slight variation in wording seems to be enough to sow seeds of doubt in those who are worried and confused.
Would also save the regulars' time.0
